Recently turned 60. I can still hear pleasure in music. So far, so good.

Happy. Might go "Aktiv", but I don't what I'd then do with the Dreadnaught. Would benefit from a preamp upgrade, but I don't have anything particular in mind at this point.

Well, how about Apple?

Well, it's "audiophile style", alright. Not, unfortunately, the same thing as, well, you know, style... ;-) -
Hear, hear.

I know I am too late, but congratulations you first 50! -
"Black Ribbons" - Shooter Jennings & Hierophant (with Steven King). Quite the trip; much better for Saturday night than Sunday morning.

The Never Ending Equipment Cycle: Speakers
subjective replied to Paul R's topic in Headphones & Speakers
"...my much loved better half announced to me that she really didn't like the sound of the Maggie 1.7s as much as I do, and worse, they were just too damn big for the living room." I was afraid of this. It happened to me... Good luck. I can't wait to see what you choose. -
Does anybody know the differences between this new version and v. 1.82?

Thanks for the invitation. Your excellent writing has made me feel like I was in those rooms those nights, too, even though I have never really been in the Vanguard or the Gate at all. I haven't listened to anything, much, for maybe two weeks, because I've been moving to Santa Fe from Dallas and my system is sitting on the new LR floor, waiting for it's new shelves to arrive. Your description of your experience really made me remember what I've been missing. I can't wait. I have to, but I can't. I took a little break from the forum for awhile, having, embarrassingly, given very authoritative, and completely wrong, advice to a newbie, based on a lack of understanding of gear I actually own. I lost a little enthusiasm. Your invitation has re-excited me. Brought me back. When I get set up here in the new house, I'll be posting my experiences with the new room and a few gear changes. In the meantime, everybody, keep listening, enjoying, and sharing. Richard G.

External USB Interface
subjective replied to nutcaseguy's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
... my only excuse here is that I've been using mine so happily and for long enough that I had forgotten that it doesn't actually do everything that I wish it would. I should have checked the specs before publishing shite on the internet, but, I own the dang thing! You'd think I'd know, wouldn't you? But I just plain forgot. OP, I can tell you that it sounds good enough, at least in my system, that I never even thought about it, but Alan is right, it does only handle up to 96 kHz. If you want more, there a lot of other asynchronous USB to S/PDIF converters out there. I still like it in combo with my Rega DAC, though. It's not for nothing that I call myself "subjective". -Richard G. -
