1. I am not surprised. Early 80s a lot of people sold their LPs very cheap to buy the CDs. Twenty years later they "rediscover" the sound of vinyl and started buying all over again. Some years ago the same thing happened to the CDs because Spotify etc offered cheap MP3 downloads. I understand why people start to buy the CDs again when you listen to the downloads. Amazon has open my eyes to a lot of artists I never have heard about because they offer MP3 downloads. I can listen to short Music examples and then buy the CD Version. I rip the CD and play the music on my computer using BelCanto Dac/Amp and headphones. The result is very good.
2. Interesting. I received my Burson DA 160 just a week ago and had the same experience. The sound directly from the box was impressive. If it improves after a few weeks burn in, the bargain will be even better. Bjørn
3. I just downloaded The Chieftains from Norway using PayPal without any problems. I have never experienced "Record not available.." Bjorn
4. My oldest component is originaly from the 1950s. However, I have a new plint and Fidelity Research arm with a Benz LP. My loadspeakers are 15 years old - Focal Mini Utopia and CD player Musical Fidelity Nuvista - 8 years. My only new equipment are related to computer based music - I bought my first DAC only 3 months ago. In addition I'm collecting vintage cassette-, DAT-, DCC-, R2R-and minidisk players. Bjorn
5. I completely agree with you. It's often the same people and the same "strong" arguments. I have never understood why such tests can release the strong feelings. For me the music is the important part of my hobby. When I start thinking about buying new expensive equipment, I go to a live concert. The consequence is allways the same, I will never be able to get something like live music in my home even if I dig deep in my wallet (may be wrong thread?). Bjørn
6. Retired Norwegian lawyer and Chief of Police with very little technical competence, but a lot of music and still resonable ears.
7. I have been downloading close to 100 records from HDTracks and in my opinion high-rez quality is good. Now I have listen to Eagles and Jackson Browne and compared them with LPs and CDs (JB DVD audio). HDTracks has no reason to be ashamed. If they continue on this "track" I'll probably buy another 100 records. Bjorn
8. I have just finished listening to Madeleine Peiroux downloaded from HDTracks. Bjorn
9. The sound of the new seven tracks is far much better, but as an real amateur can someone explain to me why bBpoweramp give me the following information on, as an example, track 21, size 131,39 MB (40% compressed)? All the other tracks are also compressed x%. I believed I bought non-compressed versions? Today I received the offer of Paul McCartney's classic first and second solo recordings with a lot of extras and reasonable prices. Will the problems from Derek and the Dominos repeat it self??
10. Hi Ted
Thanks!
I just converted Layla from FLAC to 16 bit AIFF using DBPoweramp. I worked perfect!
11. Hi Chris
As a newcommer with lot of entusiasm but less competance in computers I was happy to discover your excelent video. Even I could understand what to do.
I downloaded Max from sbooth.org, but Max is a Mac program. I have a PC using Windows 7. I cross my fingers and hope that you please could enlighten me what to do? I use MediaMonkey to play the FLAC files.

Kind regards
Bjorn
12. The positive respons from HDtracks is appreciated. I just wait for the mail and start all over again. For the future I'll also wait til someone confirm the quality, but who will be the one to test?
13. Ok, but what will happen then? Will we be able to down load the corrected album again? Even if I live in Norway I have been down loading from HDtracks two years(?) and have been very happy with the quality. The Derek and the Dominos album, however, was a big dissapointment. I thought I was alone till I by pure coincident found this very interesting forum.
