1. I've been using Auditri with great success:
http://mauriciosantos.net/?page_id=7

$3.99 on App Store
2. No, different power line which trips it up as well when hooked to USB. Since you want to add iPhone you'll need a proper interface. I can confirm the iPad 1 works on the i20. A little precarious balance so don't be rough on the iPad while docked.
 3. That will be a big issue with USB. In fact a lot of DAC makers will limit a USB to 16/44 because of the issues with USB jittering, especially at anything above 44 kHz. If you notice this, then maybe you want the upgrade to the i20. I have a Wadia and I just can't recommend it for what it does anymore. 3X the cost of the i20 for a virgin digital bit stream. Ridiculous.
 4. Mitch, if you are getting digtial bits from iPad to your DAC via the camera connection kit then there is NO reason whatsoever to add another device. The PURE dock would simply do the same thing but give you a nice place to put the iPad and give you analog/optical/coax out options. I think you found a great cheap solution for iPad owners. RE: 16bit vs 24bit, the Apple device support only 16bit, but iTunes supports 24bits. So as noted above, you can use a FLAC app to get 24bit or just stick with 16bit, which is probably what you have as source files anyways if I had to guess. Your DAC or like i20, are upsampling to 24bit too. Stick with the kit, you're done. You can then buy a stand for $50 and you're still cheaper than the i20.
 5. I've heard reports of the i20 dock by PURE works. It's great for iPhone/iPod but it doesn't explictly say iPad. It's $99 USD and far better value than a Wadia (I bought one months back). I will test my PURE with iPad 1 and see if it works.
