1. Freddie, actually I looked at Mac Mini to replace my HTPC. I wanted one computer to serve as both music and movie servers.

Because CAPS 2.0 is a purist audio server and doesn't have a video capability to accommodate all the high resolution videos these days, I looked at the Mac.

But I read that is not that easy to replace their HDD with SSD in this forum, specially the latest version of Mac Mini.

If just a quiet (as much as Mac Mini) computer is good enough as a music server, isn't a quiet PC based on mini-itx or something similar easier to buy and even cheaper than Mac Mini? One can order such a pc with SSD and a DVD player without trying to replace the stock HDD with a SSD in Mac Mini.
 2. Thanks a lot for the reply! Sorry that I must be asking a stupid question. What is UPnP player? How does the server work? The server should be connected to DAC (Peachtree Nova in my system) via USB, right? My speakers have to be connected to Peachtree as well. Then how can I be in a different room? What am I missing? I guess that I don't understand how to connect these equipments when the music from the server is streamed...
 3. Hi, JCR,

I checked the logicsupply site to see if your card and case are compatible with the new motherboard.

1. The case is compatible.
2. The Broadcom card - the site lists BCM970015 as tested AND compatible with the new motherboard.

With this Broadcam card, can I watch a movie out of this PC?
 4. Hi, JCR,

You may have an aswer to my question. Is the Broadcom card you put is to enhance the graphics? Can I use this PC with the card to connect a HD TV (55") and use the pc as my movie server as well? (I keep movie files in a NAS as well as music files).

I also wondered about the case. Did you build CAPS1.0 with this inexpenseive case?
 5. Thank you so much! Wow.. When it costs thousands of dollars to buy a music server and you can make profit from this kind of system, you simply share this knowledge with everyone else. I cannot appreciate your generosity and effort enough!

One question. If I want to watch a movie out of this pc, do I need to add some kind of graphic card or HDMI port ? I have a htpc to serve as a music server which has a fan. I want to replace the htpc with this pc, but I wonder if I should be able to watch a movie from this pc (Streaming or from NAS not from an internal DVD, I have an external blue-ray DVD player). It doesn't seem to have a HDMI, either. I hope to have one PC to serve as a movie and music server.
 6. Hi, I am very new to this world of computer audiophiles. I have been reading posts in this forum, hoping to come across a post using PCs as a music server. I noticed that Mac Mini is the most popular choice here to buy off the shelf while FAQs say that Mac is not any better than PC in SQ. I read the pocket server that Chris put together as well that costs $1500. Is there a notebook PC (I suppose that a notebook PC would be quiet) that I can buy off the shelf, which would work as well as Mac Mini at the price range (
 7. Hi, I am new here as well as using a computer as a source. I ordered Peachtree Decco (refurbished) just yesterday, my first DAC. My question is about connecting Decco to PC. What is the best way connecting the two?
