  1. Yes I´ve had one unit modified with LIPO batteries by JK and it´s substantially better than the std version had the intention to tap the I2S from it as well, but never got that far and now it´s the Exa Devices async USB-I2s that rules..... best Leif
  2. Yes sry of course you´re right was a little too fast..... best Leif
  3. I agreee : Trevor Pinnock´s version is the best of them all and I´ve got at least 7-8 versions of my "desert island" favorite music best Leif
  4. have you considered the MFace from Italy? best Leif Norway
  5. I don´t get it Peter what do you want with these disturbed thoughts of yours? don´t you have your own playground to rant around in? best Leif Norway
  6. hi P you´d better consider what you´re suggesting. I am member on so many fora, that I tend to forget them in periods, but this seemed to be the most likely to get a response, when I didn´t get any in Norway, where it´s a lot of exa users. turning hostile when I don´t use your sw anymore? or buying your dac? way to get clients! best Leif Norway
  7. they presenteed a solution to an issue, that many people were keen to solve, in a most excellent way their timing was good due to the overripe TPA clientele, who´d waited for the long announced , yet not surfased TPA alternative..... best Leif
  8. is it so suspicious that I wonder how it behaves compared to Buffalo II/III or any other contender? I´ve had and still have several of the TPA designs and know how sensitive the result is to psu choice, cabling, input format and even cabinet material and will always be interested in finding real contenders out there so far I´ve concentrated on the Sabre based designs since I´and lots of DIY´ers in Norway have discovered the Exa usb/I2S interphase and been very pleased with them and their support, it would be natural to be curious about any new product from them I guess someone will test this dac sooner or later, or worst case I´ll have to buy one to test myself..... best Leif Norway
  9. hello folks noticed that Exadevices released a new complete dac some days ago: "E18 dac": 8 channel 384khz/32 bit async dac should be interesting, especially if it keeps same high sound and build q. as their usb/I2S converter which I´ve been using for months now anybody tried it yet? compared to other sabre based dacs? best Leif Norway
  10. hello P I´m sure you´ve made/found a good way to implement usb to I2S into the pc audio chain via your dac. However I think the voyage is part of the goal, and I thoroughly enjoy the DIY bit. That´s the main reason for going TPA Buffalo and Exa solution.Excellent sound as well.I miss nothing compared to the previous solution. The minute your XXplayer is, let´s say, a little more "user friendly", I´ll try it again.I still keep it on my PC and check out the web site at fairly regular intervals. With regard to visiting Norway, the invitation still holds. That stands for Canadians as well! pls send mail reg. timing with respect to my sailing holiday best Leif
  11. hello folks take it easy...it should be room for everybody´s taste I´ve been a dedicated user of xxplayer for several years, however solely for it´s soundquality...the interfase, however much improved over the years, still leaves much to be desired and now and again the constant evolving xxplayer has left me frustrated and occasionally fed-up, although I must admit peter has been a true "gem" in customer service however the loyalty to the xx came at a price and the drop was the almost unreadable desktop in hopeless colors and miniscule letters for old eyes then comes the exa device which obviously fills a much desired gap, not yet filled by TPA themselves; the async usb-I2S interfase I must admit the timing was perfect and it gave me the excuse to (at least temporarily) go back to Foobar without loosing anything in sq compared to XX and s/pdif finally I could have my cake and eat it at the same time and that suited me fine that´s my present view of the pc audio interfase player situation where I end up with excellent sound (even in hirez m-c if I bother) and an adaptable well proven player what happens tomorrow we´ll see in due time happy listening from Norway best Leif Christensen
