peachtree nova problem

hi i've purchased the nova recently and i have a problem. i have a yamaha rxv863 receiver hooked from the pre out to the aux3 on the nova and when i switch to the receiver the volume reduced a lot. i didn't push the bypass switch,is this the problem? thank you
