  1. Update 4/25/2012 - After getting and using my new V-DAC II, I can say without hesitation that it's absolutely superior to the original V-DAC and worth every penny. Superior audio clarity and separation and no USB playback stuttering or hesitation. I am very happy with my new V-DAC II - wonderful amazing device. - John
  2. Hi - I bought a Pyramid PS-3KX power supply for my V-DAC. It works great. The Input is 115V AC, 60Hz, 50 Watts. Output: 13.8V DC. 2.5 AMP Constant/3 AMP Surge. It has solid reviews and is the PS of choice among many V-DAC users. I read a number of reviews on Amazon before buying this power supply. It is reasonably priced at a number of places on the web for approximately $35 with shipping. Just Google it and you will see a number of vendors like Amazon and Buy, etc. To match the Pyramid with the V-DAC, you will need purchase and setup a simple 3.5mm power plug which I also got for about $2 at Amazon. The Pyramid and plug are both listed as recommended extras with your V-DAC. The plug is very easy to setup if you've ever stripped wires or worked with electronics. You simply strip the leads on the end opposite of the 3.5mm jack. The leads simply attach to the Pyramid's terminals (red and black screw type). I used quality connector plugs for this. I haven't had any problems with this power supply. It is solidly built like a rock with quality case construction. It only gets slightly warm after a long time of operation. Hopefully this helps you. Email me if you need further help. Cheers R /- John
  3. Hi extracampine - After years of searching this issue and dealing with many manual solutions, I came across an automatic album cover art software called Bliss (http://www.blisshq.com). This software is quite simply amazing. You can define a very flexible and extensive set of rules for album art lookup, photo quality of the artwork, search source ordering, and just about anything else related to album art. It can automatically scan and update your entire music collection for album art updates automatically or manually. This software has saved me countless hours of album art look-ups, downloads, adjustments, etc. I have a large collection of FLAC albums (about 600 now) and managing the album art can prove to a very difficult task for a large collection. Bliss is from a UK company and they issue periodic updates to their product and have a very active user community forum and actually incorporate fixes from the user's issues. It's not perfect but automatically tags most all of my collection, and for the balance I can manually use Bliss one album at a time and generally correct the remainder. I use Bliss together with MP3TAG Universal Tag Editor software and both work great for both MP3s and FLAC sources. My strategy: 1. Run MP3TAG on my album directory for newly updated albums to adjust all tags to be totally correct for the album(s). MP3TAG can update album art and it's a good backup for Bliss but not fully automated. 2. Run Bliss in the background on my entire library after I have updated my collection. Bliss can handle MP3 tagging as well, but I find MP3TAG more accurate. Bliss will work better if your source material is properly tagged with the right MP3 tags first. Hope this helps. Cheers - John
  4. Thanks for your post. I am bought V-DAC last October 2011 and wasn't aware of the V-DAC II at that time. I am using FLAC music sources up to 24/96 via USB 2. Overall the sound with my V-DAC is amazing but I have noticed on occasion some stuttering or jitter during playback. I just ordered a new V-DAC II and my hope is that it will solve my jitter with it's asynchronous USB and I will be even happier with the V-DAC II. I will post back updates after I tried my new V-DAC II. Regards John
  5. Hi Edgar and others - I have read all of your posts and appreciate all of your good advice. I am a US consumer and purchased the original Musical Fidelity V-DAC from Amazon in Oct 2011 for 299 US dollars. I also bought and setup (DIY project) a Pyramid PS3KX 3Amp 12Volt Power Supply. I am using Mediabridge HiSpeed USB 2.0 Gold Plated cable to connect my laptop (Toshiba Dual-CPU running Win7 Ultimate) to my V-DAC. Overall the sound is absolutely amazing. I am using FLAC music source materials with some at 24bit FLAC, using Songbird player. I am running a Marantz receiver with Focal Chorus V 807V speakers using 14 gauge copper wire. I have noticed, on rare occasions, some stuttering during playback. My guess is that the V-DAC Mk2 will solve my problem and I will be even happier with the Mk2. Regards John
