I currently run a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 set up. But instead of running it off the card I'm running it off of my onboard audio. Which one would be better sound?:
Realtek ALC892 codec
High Definition Audio
2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
Support for Dolby Home Theater
Support for S/PDIF In/Out
Support for CD In
I'm thinking about either upgrading to another set of 5.1 speakers to run off the onboard or the Creative card. Or just get a new card and 5.1 speaker set.
So as you can see. I'm cheap. And an idiophile rather than an audiophile.
Wondering if there are any $100 or so (or sub) 5.1 card and speaker systems out there that would do as well as my current set up or better?
I see some nice cards on Newegg. But the speaker systems suck. They only have a couple 5.1 speaker sets and they are kind of expensive and cheap looking. IMHO.
Any cheap recommendations? Or should I just stay with what I have? Maybe there hasn't been that much of an improvement in latter years?
