  1. It does get hot, yes. The Microstreamer got a bit warm, as well.
  2. Having a tough time deciding between the Microstreamer and the DACport LX. The DACport LX is polite and has more instrument separation, while the Microstreamer is definitely faster and more forward. At this point I'm not really sure what to do. The Microstreamer is cheaper and the firmware can be upgraded (although I'm not sure what use that will have, practically). The DACport still comes off as being the more refined piece of hardware, with less color to the music overall. A part of me is saying to just go with the smaller, cheaper Microstreamer and then upgrade for the next big (or little) thing in a year or two, while another is saying the DACport is just rock solid as a portable DAC that should last a long time.
  3. My initial findings are my impressions of the HRT Microstreamer and the CENtrance DACport. 4. There's no thread for this, but based on the few reviews available it seems that this thing is really great. Just ordered one yesterday, which will be here next week. Anyone else order one or hear one yet?
  5. Anyone else hear one of these yet? I ordered one yesterday but it wont be here till next week.
  6. I just ordered the HRT Microstreamer, also, as it sounds like that might be a serious contender.
  7. It's another $50 over either of these other two and I don't listen to much at that quality anyway. I actually have both the DF and the DACport LX right now, and I'm having a tough time choosing. I get the sense that the DACport is just a higher quality piece of kit. The DF has that great portability aspect, but combined with my Headstage Arrow the DACport seems to be better.
  8. Well, I ended up buying both, and I'm having a bit of a difficult time deciding which to keep! My main concern has been that when pairing the Dragonfly with the Arrow, it's pretty noisy which seems to be the result of the Dragonfly being unshielded. Paired with the DACport LX, no noise. However, I think I like the sound directly out of the Dragonfly best, over any other setup! On the one hand, that makes me excited that I may end up choosing the setup that's most portable. On the other, something in my gut keeps telling me I'm missing something...that the DACport LX is really a better piece of kit (especially because of the silence vs. the noise with the DF). Any thoughts on this?
  9. Between the Dragonly and the Dacport LX w/ Headstage Arrow amp, what would you guys suggest?
  10. My setup would/could be as follows: Macbook Air > Dragonfly Macbook Air > Dragonfly > Headstage Arrow amp Macbook Air > DACport LX > Headstage Arrow amp Does anyone have any advice or opinions for what the best setup would be? I'll be using both Audio Technica CK10 IEMS as well as Beyer DT880s. Which setup will offer me the best sound quality? Thanks!
  11. No Epos yet, but I've been using the AE5's over the last day. I do think they sound better using the Nova's preamp, but they don't quite have the clarity that I'd like. They sound a bit muddy, and although the mids are generally clear, the highs and lows are lacking.
  12. Cause I have credit at Amazon I'd prefer to use. Anyway, I will try the A5s. I figured that I could sell the A5s though and end up with some cash to use on more expensive speakers down the road. I find it hard to imagine that $300 passives wont sound better powered by the Nova than $325 powered speakers.

  14. Sorry for being "difficult," lol. I have credit at Amazon, and prime...but if I do buy from Blue Jeans, can you specify precisely which cable model I'd want to be looking at, and if I want the bananas pre-installed, which I order? Sorry, I'm very new to all of this and want to make sure I get it right. I appreciate your help!
