  1. Thanks, new_media and mayhem. Do you think it's worth re-doing? The files are lossless, so the question is, will apple lossless sound as good as AIFF?
  2. New Grateful Dead cd's arrived in the mail and I ripped them into iTunes using, what I thought was, the slowest, hi-res rip. The files are showing 16/44.1 but are file-named ".m4a". I used to do this stuff daily and seemed to remember the files naming as .aiff. What am I doing wrong? Any tips on how to rip cd's properly? Thanks.

    BitPerfect

I'm picking up a new MB Air next week. I'll run iTunes to an apogee Duet then to a Creek. Will BitPerfect work well in this entry-level system?
  4. Hi, a friend is just about to purchase both of these. He's new to CA and skeptical. What would you recommend to connect the MacBook with the DAC? Is there a good low budget solution? And a higher price range one too? Thanks.
  5. I just realized this was a distraction from the Who thread. wgscott, please pm me if you need any help.
  6. Do you have a bit torrent client? If not I recommend uTorrent (micro-Torrent) although I'm sure there are others that work very well. Once you've set that up, there are many sites to legally dl the Dead. These are my favorites and are run by the heavy hitters of the live GD world: http://gdvault.com/tracker/torrents.php http://shnflac.net/torrents.php?search=&category=13&project=0&active=1 http://bt.etree.org/index.php?cat=8 Talk soon.
  7. wgscott, I assume you're aware of the 24/96 Grateful Dead shows available legally and for free from a few bit torrent sites?
  8. Even if you're playing music stored on an eternal HD? Does the size of the SSD improve sound, bigger = better?
  9. Did you ever think of that? For $100 I hope my head fits the RS80's
  10. jivers, I wonder if for some Grado might be really comfortable. Maybe, due to differences in head shape, they'd find uncomfortable phones that you love?
  11. Thanks, Chris. I keep hearing Grado's name mentioned for rock. I've even heard from a friend that he prefers their near-entry level RS80's ($99) over the Senn 650's ($450-ish) for rock. He owns both along with the Grado RS1's. This would simplify a portion of CA for me as 99% of my listening time is spent with rock. And I think my wife just got a new pair of used Sennheiser HD518's...
  12. KingStyle, anybody else, looking for best cans across price range for rock and roll, specifically the Grateful Dead (straightforward rock band, with solid rhythm section and lead guitar solos on almost every song.)
  13. wgscott, what do mean by "or the power supply"?
