  1. I have roon on a mac mini running my lio8. until now I have used the lio8 volume controls. Shows up as bit perfect with the purple dot. With the Upgrade to 1.2 I can use dsp volume control that is great when controlling let say from my ipad but I see the path is downgraded to high quality (green light). Any way to have remote volume through roon that is bit perfect to the lio8. Robert
  2. Hello, I use a korg mr-1 recorder as my player. It is quirky as a media player and now no longer made, but it does play up to 24/192 files of wav type format and as a dsd file player it is fantastic. I would look at a korg mr2 (it replaces the mr-1)as it has replaceable batteries and can use up to 32gb memory card. Both are better as a dsd dac but do well in pcm and by far much better sounding than other stuff out there. Both of these do playlists but no album art and not as easy to use interface wise as a Cowon. Robert
  3. I am planning to try to connect the mac mini through the optical input on the Clarion but there are some proprietary optical cables to the unit that have to be addressed. Then I can get the maximum out of the optical input at 24/96. At that point just control interface of the mac mini would be left. The Pre-2011 mac mini would be easier to work with as the power supply is external to the unit. Robert
  4. I have done digital music in the car but it is not easy. Almost all head units that connect to an ipod only read the analog out of the device so that a very good analog to digital converter is required followed by a digital to analog segment. Pioneer has the best unit for that in the DEX-p99rs. Still then the file format using lossy compression is an issue. A few of the older head units use a digital input and can do 24/48 and 24/96 processing but you have to be careful with downsampling of the better files. I use a clarion hx-d2 (older Asian model) and I am able to get 24/48 files- uncompressed wav files through the dvd changer(24/48)-attached to the optical input. I downsample the files through Saracon or izatope. I use software from Cirlinca (Hd-audio solo) to make the dvd for audio only---it is not convenient like an ipod but sounds very good. Of course all of the other issues of a car come into play-road noise/speaker placement/time alignment really change things. I am lucky to have a car that is dead silent interior and my mcintosh old school amp mc4000 is incredible coupled with dynaudio speakers. A lot of the good sounding equipment went by the wayside because of the mp3 music and the ipod---- convenience trumped sound quality
  5. I am having trouble with the A+ both in dsd and on 16 bit pcm files. On DSD playback the A+ upsamples to 24/176 somehow making the sound quite soft and not as clear as a saracon conversion. 16 bit files are playing non native and converted to 24 bit, also kind of being somewhat muddied as compared to the native 16 bit playback in audirvana free. I have izotope checked on converter and "no forced upsample" checked as well. Also need a little help with the new LIO-8 driver. I can play in integer mode now but if I try in non-integer I just get an awful static. Robert
  6. Damien Thank you for the info. This is quite a fantastic piece of software. Much better with the Lio-8 than any of the others I have tried. I had used J river on the PC before purchasing the Lio-8, Now with Audirvana and the LIO-8 there is much more "realism" to the music. I do still use J river as it has convenience factor but less as I become better with the whole apple experience(Audirvana and the metric Halo have helped!). Robert
  7. I have a Lio-8 connected to a mac mini(new), and I am using Audirvana. It seems to play only in 32 float mode. Do others with the Lio-8 get it Audirvana in integer mode? I am very new to apple(bought it for the Lio-8). Is there some setting changes to do on the mac mini? Robert
