So if I understand correctly, I will be able to connect my laptop to the SA8004 with a USB cable and use MediaMonkey and FLAC without a problem - the people at Marantz told me I couldn't (because the USB cable would send a data stream instead of a digital audio stream), but I'm not sure they know their own devices capabilities, unfortunately.

Hello, Being new to the world of using a computer as a music server I was hoping someone could answer a question for me. I have all my music as Flac files on a Laptop - I use Media Monkey as a player. The Marantz SA8004 has a coaxial input, optical input and two USB inputs. It seems that I would not be able to hook up directly to the Marantz via USB because it does not take FLAC. If I bought the V-Link and went into via Coaxial or Optical, would the V-Link turn the files Media Monkey was playing into something the Marantz could use, so I could use it as a DAC? thank you.
