  1. Dose anyone have an A/b Comparison with V-link vs the V-link Mk. II? I have need one for my dac, You can now pickup the Mk1 for $90 vs the $180 MK2. I read two other reviewers from other sites say they heard no difference in sound. What was your experience?
  2. I am current running the Blysky System One set which is 2 Bluesky Sat 6.5 MKII with the Bluesky 12" subwoofer off my computer via the HRT Music Streamer II with a couple of rca to XLR cables. The Blyskys run off XLR only, these are active studio monitors. Anyways there is much to be desired, I hooked up my Blueskys up to my Lexicon MC-12 preamp and I could not believe the detail difference and how much the sound opened, even managed the bass better. The problem being the MC-12 is for the living room. All I am looking for is something to go from USB to XLR. I'm open to older DACs used and Chinese (which in passing I have heard sound excellent for the money), my budget is $300-400, less is better. If I could get some help that would rock, I love Studio Monitors but there unforgiving.
  3. The second zone on this processor shares all the same connections as those found for the main zone. The second zone is merely an extra set of 2 XLR connections left and right instead of 8 outputs. I can program a different set of settings for the second zone phase, crossover, ect.
  4. Hey Guys, I have a Lexicon MC-8 in my Home theater setup one room away from my computer. The Lexicon MC-8 has a option for a second zone set up for 2 channel via XLR cables. I was thinking Optical into the Lexicon then the two XLR outs to my computer speakers. This not a cheap Surround Pre/Pro, it handles music well. If it would take a lot of money for the same performance I rather just hook it up to the room next to this. I did a test with my PS3 streaming through my network to the Lexicon and it made my shitty MP3s sound incredible, I was very surprised. I was wondering the following. 1-What Dac would would comparable to the Lexicon MC-8? 2-How would I set up the Optical end as transport on my computer? Just a sound card?
  5. I changed out my old Vandersteen/Rotel for a pair of Blue Sky MediaDesk 2.1 at my computer. I am surprised at how much I like these little f*#@*+s rock for a companies cheap bargain basement monitor. I'm really shocked at the qaulity of sound for not much money. My questions is what are some good studio Monitors for playback? Do all Monitors sound good on just listening or are some geared differently than others and not just for mixing? I would like to upgrade sticking to Blue Sky or maybe something Like Genelecs or Adams but I'm afraid its just going going to shows holes in the music and not be enjoyable and too flat. I have also read reports saying there is no real difference between HiFi and a good Studio monitor except the through distance. Is this true? I'm just trying to understand why I like these little monitors and the others I heard in stores so much. Sorry new to using Studio Monitors, so far I don't see any difference in goals with a high end speakers or monitors from what I can read. Is there any real difference?
  6. @Paul.raulerson I'm 100% open to buying a different DAC, just want to get the best I can for the money. But if I am going from spending a $120 to $300-$400 I wanna see some big improvements. I looked up the DacMagic it looks promising, but the Arcam rDac dosn't seem to have XLR. @Panelhead I can see you view. I was figuring that the Blueskys were probably designed around XLR but they put unbalance on there to give your options. What do you mean by leaving them stock? I'm also open to buying something from a year or two ago that can be found on the cheaper now.
  7. Thanks I'm just unfamiliar with XLR and the HTR Pro. I would assume my speakers were probably designed more around there XLR inputs than there unbalanced. I say that because when ever things are made with two types of inputs, there usually designed more around one than the other, usually the more accurate port is pro gear, the other added for lesser users. I may just give it a try then, thanks.
  8. I was just wondering if Replacing my HRT Music Streamer II with the HRT Music Streamer Pro would be worth the investment? I am actually running a Pair of Blue Sky 2.1 a friend gave me who was an engineer at Sony but he moved and went off to wifeland in Deutschland and I don't hear from him anymore. There Studio Monitors with a reference setting kind of a Prosumer kind of thing, I'm running them with MIT Terminator Cable and a pair of Kimber Tonik. I know it sounds weird but they sound great to me. They have Balanced inputs, I have never used XLR before only unbalanced so I am unaware of the quality difference. If I am going to go with the II+ I will go the extra mile for the pro. Everything I have changed like adding the DAC, to running ASIO or Kernal Streaming has made such improvements. If I can get even better sound I would LOVE it, but I'm not sure if further improvement can be made with these speakers. Any Input? BTW thanks to everyone for all these forms and site. I have used them a lot in the last month trying to get my computer rocking, I have been very happy with the improvement in playback on my computer and impressed on how good a computer can sound with FLAC files, even 320 MP3s. From Classical, crappy J-Pop to my Favorites like Pink Floyd, Coil, Zeppelin and Sisters Of Mercy. I'm converted to Higher End Audio on Computers, I'm really shocked at the sound quality for the money.
