@Superdad Alex, just got round to this, with my multimeter that I’ve never got round to using til now! So, query - js-2 rails on ER, A-side & rme dac, B-side with ultra rendu powered by ultracap 1.2 in between, B-side - getting expected beep on 2 outer barrels of js-2, but not on the A-side & B-side metal shells of the ER? Had expected beeps …?

Can apodising errors be caused by cd ripping, as distinct from the mastering?

Path is WD hard drive FW800 - apple cable adapter to Thunderbolt 2 - apple cable adapter to Thunderbolt 3 - macmini m1 with hqp desktop. So I guess 2 cable adapters in the path. AFAIK there isn’t a fw800 to thunderbolt 3 adapter cable. Anyway my other WD hard drive is fine with the single adapter thunderbolt 2 to 3. Was trying to have the fw hd with solely cd 16-44.1 rips, & alternate between hds.

ie same set up as 1st, but substituting another hard drive with different cable types …

2nd case is another WD hard drive with both firewire & usb ports. Tried both - not at same time! - with available apple adapters … but with poor results, lots of stuttering. Thought it might just be slower data transfer?
