  1. Patrick's SEN V18 looks interesting (xen-audio.com), there's a few glowing reviews over at diyaudio. I like the simple elegance of it. I don't have the time/funds to throw at it right now, but it looks like something worth trying out. By the way, your dac looks great, bet it sounds killer.
  2. No Tridents yet, but everyone seems to recommend them. I missed out the last time they were in stock, as they sold out quickly. I also use a Salas shunt regulator on the Legato, but opted to use the TP Placid for the Buffalo. I managed to replace the stock 1000uF cap with a 3300uF Nichicon Gold Tune after some careful surgery. Legato 3 should be very good, and I agree balanced out should be used to get the very best out of it. That said, this opamp output is quite good, and I'm glad they include it. I hope to use it in a bi-amped setup (350hz and down), and use the pristine balanced ouputs to a pair of class A power JFET Circlotron monoblocks for the top end.
  3. Thanks for sharing, I've followed your progress with interest. I'm a new Buffalo 2 owner and agree it is a fine DAC. I also use the Legato 2 output stage. Mine is just built up on the bottom plate for now as I continue to make small changes to it. Next change is bumping the output voltage up and trying the Shinkoh tantalums (180 ohms) for the I/V resistors. Getting those "mean greenies" out of there and replacing with wire links was a nice step up (my system is single-ended). DC offset ended up around 5mV on one channel and less than 1mV on the other.
