  1. Good to know. How noisy is the processor vent when you upsample to DSD 512 and the highest filter.
  2. Thank you Ron for your help. It looks like that HQPlayer is the only one software dooing the process of conversion from PCM to DSD for real and with very high quality. I have got intrested in foo_dsd_asio looking for the alternative to HQPlayer. But it looks like there is no one or I am still missing something.
  3. With the settings in JRiver I have no problem. If I set up JRiver for DSD to play than I am getting dsd or hdsd signal in Mytek. The point is that if foo_dsd_asio is capable to do conversion to DSD than I shall get a DSD signal from JRiver to Mytek without any dsd settings in JRiver. JRiver shall output PCM and foo_dsd_asio do the conversion. The foo_dsd_asio has a table of conversion settings indicating that you will get the DSD signal outputed to the chosen device but it is not working like that.
  4. Hi everybody. I have one question. If foo_dsd_asio is doing a conversion from PCM to DSD than I shall be getting a DSD signal to my Mytek DSD 192 just playing a PCM file without any settings for DSD output method in JRiver. But it dose not work like that. I get only upsampled signal but no DSD. Am I doing something wrong? When I choose as the method output DSD in JRiver than my Mytek shows DSD. But it will mean that JRiver is making a DSD conversion and the foo_dsd_asio only outputs it. What the heck???
  5. Thank you for info. I have never been using Linux but it is not a problem to learn it :). Do you use the Ubuntu version?
  6. Miska How are you using RME HDSPe AIO with linux. In the list of drivers for the card there are only for Windos and Mac.
  7. I would like to build an upsampler based on HQ Embeded. It looks like all that you are writing here is a configuration of HQ Embeded as a network player/upsampler. Is it possible to build PC based on Linux with and an audio card with digital inputs e.g. AES/EBU and HQ Embeded as the upsampling software. The digital signal will come from audio card digital input (e.g. AES/EBU) to HQPlayer Embeded than upsampled and sent out with e.g. Singxer SU-1 to a DAC. Is it possible? In the description of HQPlayer Embeded is written "It can utilize both digital and analog inputs from various devices and output audio processed through the advanced DSP pipeline." From that description I understand that it is possible. There is very good solution for sending a digital audio signal over a wire. There are Dante and Ravenna protocols for audio over IP I am aware off. Dante is only for Windows and OSX systems. Ravenna has ALSA drivers but the hardware is twice as expensive as the Dante's. So it will be nice to have HQPlayer Embeded for Windows :). I know I have alredy asked for it in another thread having in mind a different approach. Sorry if I am annoying but I am just looking for a solution to finalyse a very very good PC audio setup :). But I need totaly separate the file playing and processing from the upsampling process. And for that I need two PCs somehow connected with each other.

    HQ Player

Ok it my be like that. But if it works will it be possible to connect JRiver with HQ Embeded (it is very theoretical question as there is no HQ embeded for Windows) with virtual cables.

    HQ Player

I have found such a software. Will be not possible with it? https://www.vb-audio.com/Cable/index.htm

    HQ Player

JRiver has support for VST plugins and HQPlayer don't. The idea is to connect JRiver output with an input of the other software with advanced DSD upsampling. I can do it easily within the Windows system. I imagined to run both JRiver and HQPlayer Embeded (if it will available for windows) on the Windows system and connect them.

    HQ Player

It will be nice to have HQ Embeded for windows. With such a solution I could send an audio stream from e.g. JRiver to HQ and do high quality dsd upsampling. Additional advantage will be possibility to assign the two proceses to different cores of the processor. For now I have to seek a solution allowing me to send 32bit/88.2-176.4 kHZ audio stream from windows based PC to Linux one over ethernet connection. Optimaly using no additinal hardware. Dose anybody know such a solution?

    HQ Player

Ok! So maybe it will be possible to add audio inputs to HQ Player. Or to create HQPlayer Embedded for Windows.

Miska do you plan to add support for VST plugins?
  14. Finally I have done the mod. All the capacitors used on the stock PCB were Panasonic FC 220 uF. I left only the one on the input of the 3,3V regulator. The transformer outputs 9 V to TekDevice TPS7A4700, the TekDevice outputs 5,4 V for the SS 1117-3.3 Regulator. The regulator output capacitor was changed for Panasonic FR 100μF 50V. The four ceramic capacitors were removed. The one close to FPGA changed for Panasonic FR 330 μF 25V. The one in USB section and close to the WCLK output changed for Nichon R7 220μF 6.3V. I have very little knowledge about electronics. I do have only some basic soldering skills. I am not certain of one thing in my setup. The TekDevice is connected directly to the transformers AC output. On the output of the TekDevice I am getting DC power +5,4V and there is a GND connection. How it is with the GND of the TekDevice. The TekDevice is connected only to the AC output of the transformer and has no connection with the GND of the main power supply. Is it correct? I did not touch the USB power supply section. I am using W4S Recovery USB reclocker. W4S Recovery uses its own power supply. I have used Graham Slee PSU-1 (I have it for my secondary headphone amplifier and it is used only when I am traveling) with voltage down adapter based on the Sparkos SS7809 regulator with input capacitor Panasonic FM 330uF 35V and output capacitor Panasonic FR 100μF 50V. As there is a big difference in input-output voltages the metal housing (I adopted the TV splitter) was getting quite hot. I have to do something. I had some PC scrap and the outcome is like that Please don't laugh. My imagination was over but the goal has been achieved. The housing of the adapter reaches max 45 celsius degrees. I recomend to all owners of the W4S Recovery to updrade the power supply. It was significant change in SQ.
