  1. In preparing to subscribe to Tidal and Roon, Updated my Mac-mini to Yosemite. No I have playback through my DAC even though it shows as the output path in my OS preferences. Audirvana won't even initiate playback, just sits there. Is this an update related issue I am unknowledgeable about?
  2. and there is nothing in there. When you run consolidate under iTunes, it does not delete the original library, but unfortunately it appears to "lose" the pathway and I have been unable to uncover it on the hard drive. Has anyone moved their library and then deleted the original files to free up the space on the internal hard drive? Do I need to contact Apple to figure this out?
  3. No, I didn't just copy, that wouldn't work as you would end up with iTunes not being able to find the files. I set up a media file folder on the Glyph, then used "change location" and "consolidate" through iTunes to copy my existing library to the new location, but after I was done I could not again locate the original library on my internal hard drive using Finder and browsing through files on my hard drive. Yet my hard drive still appears to have 490 GB of data. My Mac mini is used only for my audio system, containing only audio files, Mac system files/applications and Audirvana. "Music" is not an option when I initiate Finder. So my question remains, how do I locate the original library and delete it? Otherwise, everything is working fine under iTunes and Audirvana.
  4. I recently added a Glyph 1.5 TB to my system to move my iTunes library as my Mac mini was nearly full (490 GB). Moving the library went well and everything works as anticipated. However, I can't seem to find the original library and my hard drive is still crammed at 490 GB! How can I find and delete my original iTunes files so I can free up the space on my hard drive?
  5. I just recently went the computer audiophile route, using a Mac mini 500 GB (8 GB RAM) as my server and a Young M2 DAC, using Audirvana as my player at the moment to allow also playing FLACs from HDTracks. Sounds great. However, my music collection (and operating system, MAX and Audirvana) now take up 494 GB. I need additional storeage! What's the best route for expanding, e.g., what works best with Mac? More specifically, 1) Is there a best set of brands to focus on in terms of external drives for audio? 2) USB vs Firewire connection issues? 3) Should I look to move my entire music library to the external drive to avoid any issues from playing back music lists across 2 drives, and how should I manage that? 4) Are there any known concerns with exceeding 1 TB for audiophile storage/reproduction? 5) Other things I should consider, or 6) Am I just making it too hard and just go get a couple of Apple compatible 2 TB hard drives, one for primary storage and one for backup? Configuration recommendations welcome! Dwight Heil Rosemount, MN
  6. I am just starting to develop a computer based audio system, planning on using a MAC mini and a DAC to feed my existing (and somewhat old) audio system. I chose the MAC because it is supposed to be easier to get true bit performance and because of the possibility of using an optical output via the audio out section. I was planning on buying the Rega DAC but the dealer indicated that my sound would be greatly affected by the soundcard if I didn't use the USB connection. This stopped me cold because I don't want to be limited to 44.1, which is the only USB option on the Rega DAC. What do you more experienced folks think? Do I need a different sound card with the MAC mini than what it comes with to get true bit output via a high quality optical connection, or should I be searching for a USB DAC with more options instead? I do want to stick within a price range of $1500 or less. My audio system is not at a level with some of the rest of you out there. I use a Parasound preamp, a Sunfire Architect Series II Signature power amp and TDL Studio 3 speakers. (Like I said, old)
