Weiss INT202 with Macbook pro

Hi Adam, What exactly does the dual-wire function do ? What dacs have you tried the INT203 with ? In your opinion, is it best to use the spdif or the xlr digital out connections from INT203 to the dac ? How important is the digital cable being used from the INTO203 to the Dac ? Thanks for the inputs, SLM -

Adam, Thanks! what is the difference between the INT203 vs INT202 ? In terms of sonics ? Yes, its the best interface i have used! What options other than stock firewire cable can you recommend ? I'm looking on the OYAIDE Firewire cable. Even w/ stock OYEN PRO cable it sounds amazing. The Berkeley USB is another one I was studying before, but no dealers nearby. -

Very good stuff!! probably the best USB/Firewire-> SPDIF converter i have used. Very transparent but non-fatiguing. -
In 2.3.2 they said they will Fix issue with skip sound on starting a track. I still experience the same problem? How about you guys what's your experience on this? Thanks much. Great program.

Amarra 2.3.2 - Unwanted "Clicks" and "Pops" during playback
soundslikemusic replied to higo's topic in Software
Yup, same here, on my mac mini-8 gig, have clicks and pops on amarra. On puremusic, no such issues, but i like the sound of amarra better though. I also notice that after the end of a song and it goes to another song, few seconds of the next song is kinda missing. Hope amarra fixes this bug soon as this player is really very promising . -
having tried both the mini ($295) and the full blown amarra, the features of the amarra is really nice. But for the eq feature, i can do w/ just the mini. Its good enough & i would opt for that.In the end though, i find myself not having to use the eq feature not that it sounds bad, but for most music, the non-eq is fine.

Apple, Weiss and Bel Canto, am i close?
soundslikemusic replied to koogook's topic in DAC - Digital to Analog Conversion
Have both the weiss 202, Bel Canto Dac 2.5, and halide. The weiss is a higher league than the Bel canto 2.5. Dac 2.5 is better than the 1.5 by a significant margin. refinement, details. If i was in your shoes, other option wouldbe to go with a halide into the dac 1.5 The INT202 would probably sound better with the dac1.5 but you have a firewire cable + aes ebu cable to deal with & it requires a high quality one to shine. For now halide into dac1.5 and when funds permit inthe future, jump to the 202. 202 is really something else esp in the midrange & the pre-amp section suprisingly is very good. -
It is puzzling, especially when PM1.8 can play it fine.

Paul, Thanks for chimming in. But i dont even have a blue tooth keyboard or bluetooth radio in my place. What puzzles me is that with Puremusic, such issues does not exist. I tried using the Amarra playlist features & its the same problem.

The ticks, pops occur when playing the tracks... as the song plays, it ticks, pops. quite irritating actually.

Amarra 2.3 is great! the sound quality i feel is better or an improvement over the other software am using. Except for one caveat, maybe someone here can help me. When playing 24/96 and 24.192 files, not all, there is some popping, ticking sound that can be audibly heard out of the speakers. I thought it was the file itself. But having tried the same file in PM & using the same machine & harddisk, dac, there is no such issue. Anyone else have the same dilemma. I also wonder why just on some hires files but NOT all of my hi res files. On regular files, no problems at all. Thanks for the help!!!

do agree and observed in limited time with amarra that it does sound fuller, smoother and more analog sounding than PM. I find the PM a bit more detailed, tighter bass, more dynamic but at the same time a bit more lightweight sounding compared to Amarra. Is there a problem using the remote app w/ Amarra ?
