  1. Wow! Audirvana Plus is growing on me, superb. The payment option is also very good, i was able to purchase with my debit card from India. It never happened on any other sites. I must also say that liveliness of Audirvana free is lacking irrespective of great music the Plus produces. May be it is time for me to look for external DACs! Thanks Damien for such an affordable awesome player. -vel
  2. I tried to open FLAC files using Fluke, it did not work. There seems to be issues with latest iTunes, check their site. Sorry for the wrong info, it is been a long while listening to FLAC files in iTunes.
  3. I like the Audirvana Plus interface and dont use iTunes. It is good enough for me. But if you want iTunes to recognize flac files, then try Fluke for mac. It works wonderfully for flac support. -vel
  4. HOG mode works in Lion, but not for Skype calls. I was listening thru Audirvana, exclusive mode enabled, when i got a call on Skype. The ring sound actually startled me. While this was never the case in Snow Leopard. Somewhere i read that iOS apps cant entirely control audio path and calls always take precedence. I dont have any iOS devices to verify this, but it seems to apply for Lion OS. Is it one of the reason Lion didnt offer integer mode?
  5. 0.8.2 build sounded different from 0.8.0 gcc. Awaiting for A/B/x, should be fun to experiment. Thanks Damien.
  6. But still, command line compilation and linking should be possible using open source gcc. Am i right? May be am not clear on my earlier post. If sound engine could be made into plugin, a gcc version and llvm-gcc version could exist even if gcc is depreciated. Allowing the entire app to be developed on llvm-gcc. Makes sense?
  7. Yes latest version is tiring to hear on headphone, so i guess its llvm. Probably llvm version sounds better on full range speakers!! Dont have a music system to test this, can anyone else please try? My point is, I have seen people having different setup for head-phones and music system. In that case why not have two sound engines in Audirvana?
  8. Audirvana is an excellent player, no doubt. Thanks to you Damien am now enjoying music more than ever. Am a regular reader of this thread, and present topic of A/B listening got me to register in the forum. To me gcc is listenable for a long period, llvm tires me. Its my liking and doesnt mean one is inferior than the other, as is anybody's preference to other players. At the end of the day, its our preference. A or B, as long as the final release is listenable and makes me enjoy and love music, am not bothered about compilers. If not, i can always go back to version 8 gcc. I have taken a backup copy now Thanks to you all for the wonderful forum. Looking forward to the A/B test.
