    Pure Music 1.8

Did they upgrade come out today btw?
  2. I really do not need speaker cable but they interest me quite a bit. I wish they priced there bases for amps the same way but they do not. Sigh1
  3. I think if you read my comments the interface that I find clunky is not a deal breaker to me but my wife likes to use the system and she is far less enthusiastic than I am about the feature and in fact does not use the player because of it. I can not think she is the only person like this. That being said I think the interface can get better and it one thing I would like to see worked on before release. I mean even the little script that allows you to easily ass tunes from i tunes if you use it as your library with decibel puts it years ahead as far as ease of use imo. If I wanted the very best I would buy a turntable some newer vinyl and a great tone arm and cart. I would also get a record cleaner. I think since this is not 20 years ago my wife would not be to happy about that though the use of the turntable is easy as is the playing of vinyl in reality. I see no reason why this player can not be as easy to use as vinyl imo and it currently is not for me. it is sadly the only player that is not easier. Yes I want the best sound I can get with ease of use I mean come on our pre amps and all have remotes. lol!
  4. I would try many of the players as the results are somewhat system dependent. I know that Pure Music was subjectively worse with my Focal 836 speakers than it is with a pair of totem hawks. I have not been able to update Audirvana as I have been to lazy to delete it off the comp for now and install the latest version.(I had some kind of a bug who knows) I liked it before but I will see when my system is up and running again. I also like some things about the other two so I would listen for yourself and decide what you like. Have fun and remember if it runs well on your machine (flawlessly on mine) then honestly it is a bit easier to use Pure Music and a few others over Audirvana which to me has the worst user interface of the bunch. ( You going to work on that a bit Damien?) It is clearly in the running when it is finished to be my top choice in players but it is not a finished product if the these players ever truly are but this one is definitely in active development and debugging.
  5. That is nice a non commercial transport with an interface my dac does not have. It is not that I doubt that it is good but I will never hear it or see it so for me it is vapor ware, The Audiophilleo is available and as matter of fact I own one, I am happy it did well in the test. I for one have no idea if the Wavelink is better or the Kenney I am happy and do need to chase the pot at the end of the rainbow. Those of you that can hear both and obtain both have fun I can not so in the end the contest is nice but means nothing to me. If you have an EVO or whatever and love the music it help produce than be happy. There are to many variables in this anyways as all of our rooms and systems are different. I do not think there can be a king just a group of outstanding devices.
  6. You need to look at your room and see what it can support as far as bottom. Your system will not sound good over driving your room. I think so much depends on your room, I own a JL 112 but there are says I do not even bother with it when I listen, Good luck in searching for your holy grail.
  7. Phil claims there is very little if any difference when using any competent usb 2.0 cable. I wondered if anyone had experimented I am using a Ultraviolet usb cable and want to know if there are benefits to doing that with Audiophilleo 2. I know the cables can sound different I just wanted to know if the device minimizes the differences to a point where they are negligible.
  8. I thought C was best so I am out of the complaining. That being said I can not update my copy to the new release as it gets to the instal and say there is an error and try later, Help???????
  9. Amen This thread imo should have been killed 100s of posts ago. I hope this site does not become what this thread is. I do not know how to turn off notifications but I will be looking for sure.
  10. I have a novel idea, Why do you not go and listen and research the question. I love this thread if we can get a sound design receiver with a dac it will be perfect sound forever! Well maybe not! I think some research you can find all this info and come to your own decision,
  11. Ok this is not about what sounds the best but what is the best bang for the buck. I never thought this hobby was about that but if it is then I am sure some of the avrs do provide good bang for the buck. If that is what you want maybe you guys should start a sensible computer audiophile site. The best always is expensive though expensive not mean best. This is true in almost everything in life. The premise I can not or will not spend more than this and avrs are the best choice for me in that range then so be it. These still is no need to review receivers or amps here that is not what this is about and if you want avr reviews there are a lot of places to get those. I have said that an always will. There is no lack of avr reviews in print or on the internet, We need a forum to move threads like this as I keep getting w mails when someone else posts here, We could call it beating a dead horse. You guys could go there and post to hell freezes over, Do I think you can get a decent sounding system using an avr? Yes! Do I think you can get a world class system using an avr well no!
  12. I know all of this is taste in reproduction but I am sure the Audiolab would be a good move up for you. I have made it clear I am not A Rotel fan though but good luck with your system.
  13. I think it is possible yes with the right receiver and in the long run an amp to replace the built in ones for stereo, I do not think we need reviews for that though. You need to read online and have a good dealer. It still is a compromise but it as I said the reason to buy an avr is HT and you want one that will do a very solid job on stereo. ( yes direct pass through no processing and the like) It can be done but we do need Chris reviewing this I mean I am still waiting for a comment on the Starlight Silver and Audioquest Diamond in a form of a review/ I mention those cause Chris mentioned he had them. Chris would need a staff to really review all the stuff people would like in my opinion so lets agree it is possible but that we have other things we would like him to review more. I do not really expect reviews on pre amps and amps there are other magazines that can handle that.
  14. The room correction functions are not that good and some of the better sounding avrs have little to no room correction. I think I would pass on that with them. I think there are better solutions to room correction than the typical avr programs. I see what your saying but I am pretty sure the remedy might kill the patient.
