You guys are right.... however... there’s a “lock” switch or something.. the small black lever... engaged..doesn’t work.. left down or open..it works... whatever... Thank you!!

So got the regen... took the cage out of the optical module.. inserted it into the regen.. clock set to internal.. B side (remember I’m going B to A) has solid yellow and blinking green... no lights on A side and optical Rendu won’t fully load, orange only. Take out the regen and restore the optical module..all works fine.. suggestions? Greg

And the former version still works so we are not forced to upgrade.” Well that’s true, if it works... When I read the ad from SGC for the upgrade it says it fixes Spotify connection issues... Well guess what.. Spotify connect doesn’t work in my system with 2 generations of Rendus...original and now an optical... That’s ok for me but my wife uses Spotify. So once again the bad taste. It’s advertised as doing Spotify connect and it doesn’t. Now an upgrade comes along that fixes something it was supposed to do and I have to pay $30 for it? Sorry but that doesn’t seem right.

As a long term user of “Rendus”, I find being forced to buy firmware distasteful. i can purchase a 16gb micro SD card. I can put the files on the card. I can load the card in the Rendu. It’s at most a $5 card. Reraum

Anyone have a comment on the original post? The optical Rendu has been around for a bit? Or at least the concept that the optical Rendu affects the decision about the server feeding it?

So I've searched mercilessly... Probably my question has already been answered.. Amarra SQ versus versus Roon/ Microrendu SQ.. I use Amarra via a Mac mini with and SSD and a FireWire drive to Ayre QB-9 DSD... It's the player I like... Anybody have first hand experience with this? some reviewers think the Microrendu is the best they've heard... Very doable but like many changes, requires a bit of cash.. Opinions??? Thanks..

I would use it. I've used it on a windows system in the past...for me, it is much better than the apple remote. It would have to play nice with Amarra though....

So if you select all of your music from your player, and then hit play, but don't turn on your pre amp or amp, will that do the trick?? (no comments about sentence structure please) After a few days you of continous signal to the DAC you should be set, right?? Thanks

Darrell, I have seen so many conflicting recommendations about how/where to power a computer based server, its nice to get someone's opinion i feel i can trust. FWIW i think it sounds better plugged into the shunyata. Greg

I have a Shunyata vray..should I plug my Mini into it? I was wondering if anyone has experience with passive devices for their server. Art Dudley in stereophile was quite enamored with such a set up.....Comments, good or bad?? Thanks

New reader..have just started using Jriver 15..for my system and ears much better than Itunes..so now I've been plotting a strategy for a dedicated desktop to be used as server. Currently using the jriver on a laptop. Once the server is setup, how do you guys access it..my Ipad to laptop with plugplayer is, well, less than perfect. I have wyse pocketcloud which runs the laptops desktop remotely with ease ,but...Jriver doesn't want to work with the Ipad, wyse virtual desktop combo.. Also, how do you guys sleep the machines when not in use (no monitor). I assume (I know) that you have the power down functions disabled for performance?? Thanks
