  1. Thank you for your input and suggestions! I have now done some more testing and was able to get both DACs working on a Windows laptop with my old USB cable. I then tried to connect them to my Macbook again and got them working here as well. When googling for a solution I remembered that I need to use the «MIDI»-set-up tool to change sample rate. So boosted with self confidence I then connected the new USB cable and it works. But unfortunately it seems something did happen because when I connect the Aurender instead of my Macbook there is no sound and the sample rate goes to 48khz and stays there. So I will bring it to the store where I purchased it to see if they can get it working but it probably needs service. Thanks, Mo ha dk
  2. I needed a longer USB cable and bought the required length - an off the shelf cable. But after connecting it between my Aurender and DAC there was no sound. I noticed that the sample rate on the DAC did not change when i played music with different sample rates. In an attempt to locate what was causing this I connected my DAC to my Macbook using the new USB cable. My DAC comes up in the settings but again no sound and it did not adjust the sample rate. I then tried to connect another DAC using the same USB cable to both my Aurender and Macbook - and the same happened again; No sound and sample rate stays the same. Thinking something was wrong with the new USB cable and then connected my old USB cable again and to my concern it did not work. With the old USB cable that I have been using without any problems all of sudden do not work and the symptoms are the same; No sound and sample rate stays the same. It is the same no matter if I connect my Aurender or Macbook to any of the two DACs. All cable changes have been done with the equipment turned off. So could it be that my new USB cable is causing my audio equipment to break because it is not wired correctly? Anything else I should try before concluding? Thanks, Mo ha dk
  3. Thank you for the update Amarra support however in my case it is too late.
  4. Hi, I recently found out that my preamp is a HUGE limitation in getting the best perfomance from my system. When i connect my Ayre QB-9 DAC directly into my poweramp and use PureMusic to control the volume I am blown away by the soundstage, detail, nuance etc. Since then I have auditioned a number of preamps (with and without tubes) but compared to connecting my Ayre QB-9 directly they are still limiting the performance of my system (depending on the preamp some of them perform better in one or more areas but the overall performance is still best when going direct). So instead I'm turning things upside down and are now looking for a DAC where I can control the volume. My list so far is the following (in no particular order): - Weiss DAC202 - dCS Debussy - Wadia 521 Please share thoughts, suggestions or experiences in using a set-up like this and any comparisons between the Ayre QB-9 and the listed DACs. The rest of my system is Avantgarde Acoustic Duo speakers, DOXA 62 poweramp and Transparent cables. I'm using MacMini with PureMusic and Ayre QB-9 DAC as source. Thanks for any feedback!
