  1. I'll have to try that! Thanks Cycleman / Jim
  2. Thanks you Michael Appreciate the clarification - let me revert on the pm, sorry just noticed it Jim
  3. Guys - in setting up the N10 for first time use - the Quick Start guide says to just copy the folders/files to the 2 HDD on the Aurender. I've downloaded the Windows version of AMM - which would appear to be another method of initial set up. Qustion: Why would I use AMM, when simply dragging folders and files to the local drives on the Aurender apears to suffice (and then scan for metadata/dbase construction. Any guidance here most welcome - N10 on its way and want to hit the ground running tonight Thank you/Jim
  4. Hi michaelD Thank you for such an informative response. 1. I'm still struggling with understanding the relationship between genres and folder names. My current folder structure just dumps everything in to Music\Artist\Album. ie i don't have separate genre categories because, as you say the app (presumably) reads the tags and can sort by genre when required. So still don't understand the relationship between genre buttons and folder names - do you have "genre" folders to quickly find stuff in a browse folder/file mode? Would be good to have al your reference recordings under a single button on Conductor labelled ummm "Reference" 2. Did some research on your Bricasti M1 - highly regarded. The MX151 has a Burr Brown DAC built it, so i can go direct to pre/pro. I to much prefer the AES/EBU connection. 3. Comments re power / earthing noted. For my power cables i'm using Nordost Blue Heaven 4. The app does look great in terms of functional coverage and Aurender support appears to be first rate - so should only get better (I'm picking up an iPad Air 2 tomorrow) My N10 is also in black - to go with its McIntosh neighbours Now arriving tomorrow morning Thanks again buddy Jim
  5. Really should be skinnable - ie select your own colour/theme This would be simple enough to implement
  6. Will do DMelby - although I've just learnt that my N10 is delayed a few days, coming directly from Korea - will report back to you all on some first impressions / Jim
  7. Hello all, Courtesy DMelby's earlier post and other great reviews, I've recently pushed the button on an N10 to replace a Sonore, expected tomorrow and pretty stoked to hear it, get it set up. 1. Can anyone advise the ideal folder structure and any tips/traps copying music files across? I have about 1 TB mostly flacs with default cover art labelled, "folder.jpg". I understand the Aurender default is "front.jpg" and can also use back.jpg. Can it also use PDF's - ie back.pdf? 2. I'll be using the AES/EBU output from the N10 to connect to the AES/EBU input of my McIntosh MX151 - any MX151 users out there who can comment on their experience with this interface? Any issues? 3. WRT power - The N10 comes with Linear power supply - should I plug that directly into the mains or should I plug into my existing mains purifier/distribution board (Nordost QX4 (Mains Purifier) Quantum Base QB8 (Power Distribution). Very much welcome your opinions on this as to optimum SQ, as I have one power socket left on the distribution board. 4. Also as a suggestion, it might make sense to have a separate forum/sub forum dealing specifically with the Aurender Conductor app/interfaces generally (Roon), which looks brilliant. Welcome opinions on this too. Greetings from Sydney - Glad to be aboard. Jim PS >> My thanks to DMelby for such a thoughtful, considered review

  9. Thanks guys pushed the button.... N10 is on its way
  10. Thanks fakeM I'm really liking the package that is the Aurender N10 - other than the blowing of the budget to smithereens, highly regarded SQ, SSD playback from auto-cached content, integrated 4TB storage, Tidal integration, linear power supply, fantastic ipad app, brilliant build quality and what appears to be, great support as well as upcoming Roon support. Lookin' pretty darn good I reckon
  11. Thanks rwwjr44 Yes I'm aware of that - i need /prefer to go directly to AES/EBU on the McIntosh MX151 and presumably the N10 will have superior SQ as well. I also like the concept of playing cached music directly off an SSD - makes sense to me. So this is on my short list. Another recommended Baetis - anyone have any experience or provide opinions as to relative SQ?
  12. Thanks Audio ELF and Nikhil I've spent the morning reading reviews of the Aurender N10 - nice but expensive, tough to justify hmmm what to do ?
  13. Dear All, I'm looking to replace an older SONORE music server box, which had been serviceable, but now severely limited by driver support for its LYNX AES16 Sound card. There's obviously a myriad of options and as much as I'd love to research/spec out from scratch, I simply don't have the time to invest in the learning curve. Wishlist is as follows: Extraordinary sound quality Rock solid, bullet-proof, appliance style operation, with remote control (MCE is fine) Dual boot 1) VB as well as stripped down 2) MS Windows with audiophile optimiser from AudioPhil. Ideally a third boot option which would be OpenElec - this triple boot option would be great (but only to the extent it does not complicate setup/daily use as an appliance or degrade sound quality) audio output from a) sound card or b) USB/firewire to AES/EBU input on McIntosh MX151 Interfaces - 1) MP Droid / JRiver - 2) ROON for Windows and 3) Kodi for OpenElec SSD for OS and NAS for audio files (or local 2 - 3 TB Drive, whichever is better sound quality/ease of use) DSD and FLAC all sampling rates to to 24 bit / 192 kHz Multi channel (5.1) nice but not critical Video card (ideally 4K) or happy to go headless if this really complicates set up/degrades audio quality. The 4K option would enable me to use this also as a high end video server All audiophile grade components inc. mother board - no weak links Isolated signal/audio paths Optimumly clocked No jitter introduced Isolated /clean power supply (240V) Filters, etc. Streacom FC-7 Alpha or similar form factor DAC NOT needed - the McIntosh MX151 has an onboard DAC Up to about say $3,000. 50% up front and 50% on completion I'm ready to roll now; feel free to respond here or via pm, with confirmation of your intended approach, components (makes and models), drivers, config, timeframe, etc. Many thanks guys Jim
  14. Greetings all, I'm in the process of upgrading my Sonore to Vortexbox 2.3 and have discovered there's no driver support for my much loved Lynx AES16 sound card. I had been using the AES/EBU output/input to my McIntosh MX151 (which has on board DAC) and would prefer to stay with this approach I'd also prefer to stay with Vortexbox or OpenElec / Kodi as the interface. Welcome your opinion as to the best bang for buck audio card, which is directly comparable or superior to the Lynx AES16. Stello U3 for eg.? Others ? Thanks in advance to all / Jim
