  1. I thought that Audirvana may have added something to the new version: "The software and its playback engine have been optimized in the latest 2.1 update for both Windows and MacOS, taking advantage of the latest capabilities available on both environments. This applies to all Windows computers, and Macs updated to MacOS Ventura." I upgraded my newer Intel MBP to Ventura, but did not notice any difference between it and the 2012 i7 Mini (Catalina). Anyone hear a difference with either Venture or the Apple chips?
  2. Thanks. And thanks for sharing your Substack. Fun narrative and solid audio advice.
  3. I was searching for a comparison of the Nobsound NS-05P and the Axiom II passives. Bought the Nobsound as a "test case" as I have never used a passive previously. Now considering upgrading... Found your interesting thread. Wondering how your adventure with the Khozmo has been? (Funny, I have not found an audio forum post about the Axiom besides reviews. Wonder how many of them area out "in the wild?")
  4. Thanks for the review, Joe. I have a GS (Garage Sale) - a modern Yggy with a A1 board. Looking forward to upgrading to a LiM.
  5. Wondering what digital coax cable you are currently using and if you have done much experimenting?
  6. I frequently use Qobuz to find new music and then purchase the disc in order to get better sound quality. I have found the difference to be subtle - at the high end, tighter bottom and something a little more spacious in the sound stage. All subtle, but noticeable enough (on some recordings more than others) that I pay the extra money. (I also prefer the subtle sound improvement of foreign disc pressings - British, German and Japanese...)
  7. So, I am trying to add another device (UPnP) on to the network. Audirvana recognizes it and plays to it. Great. But each of the two devices (Raspberry pi based streamers) need different setting because they work with different dacs. Unfortunately, when I set the device parameters for one (Maximum PCM Rate, Sox and Upsampling target frequencies), they change for both devices. Is there a way to have different setting for each device? Thanks in advance.
  8. Maybe a silly question that has already been answered: If someone publishes a playlist for either Tidal or Qobuz, how do you add that to Audirvana to play in Tidal or Qobuz?
  9. On both. The Shanti is designed to work with the other Allo products as it has a clean and dirty side connection. Tried switching back to batteries on the clean side, but sounded much, much worse. Did not try using my inexpensive linear power supply on the dirty side instead of the Shanti because it did not seem to matter. Shanti is a great value!
  10. I have been pleasantly and joyously surprised by the sound improvement with the Shanti power supply. I was using batteries for the clean side and an inexpensive linear power supply for the dirty side and the Shanti make a substantial improvement in sound.

  12. Hi Simon, this is a little off your topic, but do you have a digiOne (Signature) HAT connected to your USB Bridge/Raspberry Pi device? Or how are you connecting your dac to the USB Bridge? Thanks, Rick
  13. Just for the record, there are two cases available for the USB Bridge Signature - one without room for a HAT and one with room for a USB Bridge Signature with a DigiOne Signature card. I speculate that there has not been a metal case for the DigiOne Signature Player is that there may be an upgrade in Allo's future which uses the updated Raspberry Pi 4. I view my dear Allo as a hobbiest company whose products are in continual upgrade mode. My two cents...
  14. Still running Mohave on a tricked out 2012 Mac Mini. Is there any sonic or feature reason to upgrade to Catalina?
