  1. Hi Chris. Great and passionate review. Did you give a try to the Constellation Audio PreAmp 1.0? Regards Fabio
  2. May I really appreciate you trying to help, but unfortunately your comments seem to go in the wrong direction.... As I wrote you above several times, sMS-200Ultra (the specific unit I'm trying to test in my system) works perfectly with the Totaldac USB cable (exactly the same USB cable used successfully by my friend) and the mBPS-d2s (and the same router and the same model of Totaldac server/dac, with also same firmware) at my friend's home. Therefore there is no use in commenting the characteristics of the USB cable or the appropriateness of the voltage of the mBPS-d2s... It easier to say that you, like me, do not have any clue about the malfunctioning However thanks for the effort Fabio
  3. Hi May i used the mBPS-d2s battery power supply What dou you mean for ‘normal USB cable’? Totaldac USB cable is a normal and indeed good USB cable. However we tried different USB cable (Audioquest) and also keep in mind that the same configuration (USB cable included) works finely at my friend’s home... Regards Fabio
  4. Totaldac d1-server cannot be used as a sole DAC alone. Signal processed (reclocked) through it has to be feed to the d1 series DAC (second chassis) It has a USB input, as correctly stated by jcn3, and as I said my friend, owner of the SoTM SMS200Ultra I was trying to test, has exactly my same Totaldac configuration (d1-server+d1-six DAC, two chassis connected via AES/EBU), my same router etc....and in its system everything works finely!!! Thanks Fabio
  5. Hi MAy You're possibly right about the USB connection causing the problem, because Totaldac d1-server unit apparently does not look up with the SoTM 200Ultra. As a matter of fact the d1-server once connected through Totaldac USB cable to the SoTM shows on the display no signs of recognizing the SoTM, while when I connect the d1-server to the router directly (with its Roon Ready features activated) it immediately recognizes an input signal. My DAC is a Totaldac d1-six connected va AES/EBU to the d1-server so it should not be the one generating problem since it is not directly connected to the SoTM USB connection is made correctly, I double checked several times. In Eunhasu web gui was visible as a Roon ready device Regards Fabio
  6. Hi everybody I need some help from the someone who has proficiency in using Roon, NUCs and SoTM sms200Ultra. While I'm waiting for a new streamer (Lumin U1) I tried to test my friend's SoTM sms200Ultra in my setup. Unfortunately despite many trials I was not able to make it works. Problem is: Roon Remote does not see the SoTM among the network peripherals to be enabled in the Audio settings menu. I use a NUC i7 connected to a router modem Netgear D6300. To the router I connected the SoTM sms200Ultra which is connected through usb cable to the usb input of a Totaldac d1-server. What drives me crazy is: - the same infrastructure worked flawlessly with Lumin S1 instead of SotM200Ultra - also Totaldac d1-server worked finely with Roon if directly connected to the router - at my friend's place the SoTM200Ultra works perfectly using different hardware or evenusing the same Totaldac d1-server, same router and same NUC - since my friend use an Aqvox audiophile switch to improve performance of the network we introduced the same switch in my network in order to have perfectly equale systems Roon is updated to the last build Totaldac disk image is the lst one available RoonServer is actively running on SotM Ehansu webpage Can anyone help me? Situation is pretty frustrating...:-( thanks Fabio
  7. Interesting news: I’m listening to an old vinyl release of the Oscar Peterson Trio album...and, wow, the triangle bell on the left of track 6 sounds pretty similar to the MQA version on Tidal. Therefore the 44/16 version is non-natural sounding. Compared to the al version, would never have said that... This confirms to people do not trusting MQA that this format brings some hidden treasures indeed
  8. Correct...exactly what I hear. My question is: how came is this possible? @Emerald Core i'll try to write to Tidal customer service, but honestly speaking in the recent past they did solve zero of my issue I had with their streaming service and submitted to them....:-(
  9. @toetapaudio I am wondering why you are switching from S1 to U1 I also own a S1 but I do not use any of the dac features (I use a Totaldac) Therefore I think I could pass to a Lumin without useless circuits (for me) like U1
  10. @leftchannel Thanks for your opinion I do not think I have particularly 'good ear'. Fact is that in my system the difference is not so subtle Moreover the reason for which I posted here this like an anomaly is because I can tell you that the artifact is in the high resolution files. Triangle sounds in reality like we can hear it in the 16/44 files and not like in the MQA (Tidal) or HiRes (Qobuz) files If it would have been viceversa (artifact in the 44/16 files) I would have thought like you that the Master was correct and subsequent processing had created such weird sound on the chime/triangle. Hower thanks for your contribution I would be happy if other user jump in and post their impressions or other track with this kind of 'anomalies' Regards Fabio
  11. Hi everyone I just individuated a weird behavior when streaming some specific tracks from Tidal and Qobuz. I was listening to a classic jazz recording (We get requests, Oscar Peterson Trio). In particular I was enjoying track number 6 (You look good to me) of the Tidal 44/16 version Then I realized that luckily a MQA Master version has been uploaded in Tidal and immediately restarted track 6 of the MQA version. Once started the track I realized something was wrong: at the beginning of the track (and for the first 30 secs approx) there is a chime (triangle) playing in the left channel, accompanying the double bass on the right. in the MQA version this chime sounds not real and really weird (like it is distorted or with an echo) So I moved to Qobuz and I got the same behavior with the regular 44/16 version and the HiRes Audio version (btw I do not have Sublime + subscription, therefore I do not know what kind of processing Qobuz does for such tracks): regular version sounded perfect, while the HiRes version sounded again weird (the chime/triangle was 'distorted') Could some of of you try the above mentioned tracks and report on the forum whether other customers hear the same anomaly? I use a LUMIN S1 streamer regards fabio
  12. @wklie Hi Peter Many thanks for having analyzed Italian issue and I hope it will be worked out soon Regards Fabio
  13. @wklie: no luck...I did it and still Masters folder stays empty...:-(((
  14. @wklie: I tried to the 5Ghz band that has a different SSID...nothing changed Important to remark that until few days ago everything worked smoothly....same router...same settings...same everything regards fabio
  15. Hi everyone It has been now few days I'm experiencing an issue in the use of the Tidal streaming via the LUMIN S1 with the LUMIN app. Unfortunately even the kind people from Pixel Magic was not able to help me. This is the reason I'm posting publicly the issue here, hoping someone will help. Basically in the Tidal homepage in the LUMIN app (the one with the Genres, My Music, What's New, etc folders) I see the Masters folder but there is no cover piatire on it and when I enter it is completely empty. Until few days ago everything was fine... Master albums are accessibile from each single artist, btw Also Masters folder is available in I look for it in the Tidal app or in the Tidal desktop software. i tried evrything qnd also wklie suggestions (turning off the LUMIN, the router, the app, reinstalling the app....) without success. Is anyone else experiencing in Europe (Italy) succ issue? Has anyone succesfully worked it out? Thanks and regards Fabio
