1. I would consider nothing less than a REL or JL Audio for what you're asking for. If your budget can handle it, it's worth the investment. Before I downsized considerably, I had owned a REL Studio II, Storm III, and JL Fathom f110 over a 15 year span...all awesome units and primarily used for music with some HT duty.
2. Any more specifics on what they displayed...how they sounded? I see that you listed a bunch of Gordon's products, but not so much of the Bryston/PMC room. Any observations on cabling choices?

Thanks.
3. Interesting. I wonder what the actual setup was? Car audio is pretty lossy and if a door panel popped off, I'd question the overall impact of the demo. Good for Neil Young though! It's always nice to have notable preachers.
4. to the Nordost Blue Heaven USB. Now my office system is cabled with a single product line. After logging close to 120 hours, I've asked myself, is there an audible improvement? An honest answer would be, I believe so. I thought the WireWorld design, implemented in my older Starlight cable offered the best single cable design, separating the power and signal lines as much as possible in a flat format. But after giving this a go, I'd be interested in comparing their design philosophies.
5. I hope I'm not creating a duplicate thread, but my search came up empty for this subject. Anyway, with all of the chatter around bad HR downloads in this sub-forum, I was hoping to start a list of verified good albums. I think it'd be a nice source for people like myself who are just starting to compile a high res library. If you all can list what you believe are quality downloads, I'd greatly appreciate it. Sticking to a format would be useful, so how about this: [*]Artist: [*]Album: [*]Sample/Bit: [*]Site: [*]DR Rating (opt): (overall rating or outputted data table) [*]Waveforms (opt): (1 or 2 waveform samples) Chris - if this is against any forum policy, please let me know. Thanks - Jason
6. @Chris - Thanks for the data. What app did you use to generate it all, and which OS does it run on? Lastly, because I'm not too familiar with DR ratings, what's the typical dynamic range of a well mastered album...low teens? Thanks.
7. Now, how does it sound...remastered? Guess I'll give it a go. Thanks - Jason
8. Nice find, but how do the tracks look under the hood? I love this album, but I'm hesitant to download it without verification that it's a true 24/96 production.
9. Any impressions yet? I like all of the members, so this could be a totally awesome collaboration, or an epic failure. Anyway, I just wanted to share: http://www.superheavy.com/
10. Just as an aside, CryoParts isn't running as a business anymore...please check out their landing page: http://cryo-parts.com/ However, the part that you've referenced is available online from various vendors.
11. Yes and no...interested in Chris's opinion as to what he regards as the superior, yes. What it means to my personal property, no. My questioning has to do with why something just falls off the list. Even Stereophile provides a reason if a product's been demoted in their dubious ratings. To invest so much into proving the worthiness of something just to drop it seems odd. Sure, if the product isn't up to snuff compared to current contenders, then it should be noted. The reason why I like the idea of keeping an archive list is because it would provide great reference material...to understand how things have changed, to see what was considered great just a couple of years back, and which manufacturers consistently make top stuff. I've pointed may friends to this site, and they all comment on the CASH list as a great tool, and yes, many of them use it as a reference for the second hand market. I guess my point is, there should be an effort made to pull something from the list similar to putting something there. Otherwise, the justification for adding a product holds less weight in my opinion.
12. I see it the other way The list should be an up to date one of the most worthwhile components. If something has been surpassed by several other units, it shouldn't be on the list with superior devices. May Chris should make a list of "past" CASH devices - it might help those buying equipment in the second hand market. - firedog If the intent is to keep a current list, then the entry dates shouldn't really matter, but Chris has listed them. I can totally understand firedog's viewpoint, that current and superior devices should comprise the list, but past devices shouldn't be overlooked, they're still excellent products and such a reference maybe useful for the second hand market/AudiogoNer. Maybe an archival list can be maintained as suggested. I'm a big fan of historical views and seeing how things change over time, hence knowing the entry date is a notable piece of information. Anyway, it's up to Chris, no matter what we think

Amarra 2.3

For a reply to my emails and voice messages with regard to v2.2 some 5 months back. I haven't experienced any good customer service from Sonic Studios, but they're happy to take my money for Jr. I'm still getting glitches with v2.2 Jr. and it doesn't sound like anything's been done to address the problem with v2.3. I was thinking about upgrading to the new Mini, but hearing these reports just closes the door on that. Thankfully, Decibel has been solid for me and Stephen's been extremely responsive to issues, so why change something that isn't broken? Anyway, hopefully Sonic Studios will resolve whatever needs to be done so you all can enjoy the music.
