  1. I received my returned DAC2DSD-SE this past Friday from the FEMTO upgrade. I am sub 20hrs on burning in the clock, but I can already hear subtle improvements, and no negatives. The improvements so far are in terms of harmonics, and realism. I was in a guitar mood yesterday so Larry Carlton, Lee Ritenour, and Acoustic Alchemy came to play, and I am continually amazed how the further reduction of jitter improves the outcome of my system.... I am also a user of the EA Offramp 5, and I feed the DAC2 with i2s. So if there is anyone wondering if the FEMTO upgrade improves on what the OR5 offers, the answer so far is yes... Still early in the break in phase, but unless things head south (doubtful as with just 10 hours the improvement was moving forward) this upgrade is WELL worth the small investment... More to come....
  2. You might want to also consider a used Wyred4Sound Dac2, they can be found for $900-$1K.... That would also give you an upgrade path to the SE version down the road...
  3. Jud I hear what your saying (no pun intended).... If I was hearing what I would describe as an "EQ'ed" sound I would completely agree with you... For me it is more of a sense of being with the musicians with 1.5.9, but not in a contrived (reverb) kind of way... :-)
  4. 1.4.9.7 was my go to load for SQ, until 1.5.9 hit.... Funny how system dependent this can all be, but 1.5.10 does not hold a candle to 1.5.9. At least in my system 1.5.9. is "live" and has a huge sound stage and delivers on both new and old recordings.... Might want to give it a try..... :-)
  5. I will take some pictures, and document the process... I lived in St. Paul for over 20 years :-)
  6. I just ordered a Keces direct from one of there dealers in Tapei City, and it was $315USD delivered via express mail to Colorado. I ordered the 12vdc 6a single rail model... My plan is to use a Mojo internal filter module ($199), and to build a dc cable using wire from VH Audio..... So for about $550 that will be my solution with my late model mini build.... I will get this done this month, and hopefully won't be releasing any magic smoke in the process :-)
  7. Thanks for the reply Booster... I will give that a go and see if my experience improves....
  8. Hi All, When using the apple Remote app (iPad) I occasionally run into an issue, and I am wondering if anyone else experiences this, or if I am just special... If I choose an album and play track one, then move to a different album and try to play track one, track one on the first album starts over. If I play track two on the different album all is fine, I can even then (after playing a track other than track one) choose track one on the different album and all is fine. It's like the GUI and the mechanics of the app get out of sync... Anyone else experience this?
  9. Could it be that they are really DVD-R disc's and that the Mac is having an issue reading that type of disc? You mentioned these were from a small company, so maybe they create them as DVD-R....
  10. Thanks Randy! I am awaiting your review as I also have the OR5 and Short Block.... It will be very interesting to hear your results, as the OR5 has been wonderful in my system...
  11. Hi Richard, Following your upgrade with great hope... Haven't had my first cup of coffee yet, but was wondering if you removed the W4S driver from your Mac, as the new USB is driver-less... Best of luck!
  12. I am an empty nester, so I clap it to my audio rack... No little hands around...
  13. I am using the Sennheiser headphone clamp... Inexpensive but very effective...
  14. About a week ago... Paul was thinking 45- 60 days he could get it shipped... I am not in a rush, still breaking in the OR5 that it is going to power...
