1. It is a very old thread but it might be useful for someone. You can use ASIO bridge (free) app to route all audio to Jriver ASIO and use SPDIF out on 0404USB. ASIO Pro Link can accomplish the same task but it requires a license, otherwise you will hear silence every minute or so.
2. I created bootable flash drive but it wasn't detected by my macbook pro, so I switched to another machine. Curious if anyone had a problem with the blank screen and mouse cursor once logged in. BTW I had to use work around to create administrator/audiophile login.
3. Pat's original converter is one of the best converters I've measured jitter wise (50Hz - 100kHz bandwidth for what it's worth, 44.1kHz only as it doesn't support other sample rates). Too bad it didn't work in my system at the time and I preferred Offramp 4 even though it wasn't as good on the test bench.
4. I would be very careful comparing jitter measurements without knowing how they were done and what equipment was used. At one point in time I preferred one converter with measured jitter 10X higher than the other one. Placebo is out of the question as I owned the better measuring one.
5. Audio Precision 2722 is an industry standard (JA from Stereophile has one). There are cheaper packages like 500 series. I have access to AP2722 and measured some usb-spdif converters. I never heard BADA converter, and if someone wants to ship me one I can provide measurements as well as subjective test vs Diverter HR in my system.
6. Run a bit perfect test and you will know whether it alters bits or not. People waste hours in forums speculating "what if", instead of spending 10 minutes to get the answer. Do you hear a difference between properly configured foobar and jriver?
7. I don't think that magic is anything special. I can clearly hear the difference between different players with sonicweld diverter hr. When I measured avg and peak values of jitter on audio precision I saw no difference between different USB, spdif cables and different software players. Though I haven't looked at jitter spectrum.
8. jplay site seems to be down. Can someone share the demo version of 5.0?
9. I much preffer Jplay on Win7 64bit to Amarra on Mountain Lion. Amarra is my favorite Mac OS player, but I rarely find myself booting into Mac OS. Note that I haven't tried Jplay 5.0 yet.
10. If you have access to AP 2722 you should be able to create one. I generated one for 16bit/44.1kHz but never had a need for 24bit version. You should specify sample rate you want. If I get a chance I will create one.
11. Chris,

When you measured average and peak jitter values did you stream audio? If so, did you use j-test.wave?
