  1. mitch, i would love to see a walk-thru for us mac folks using e.g. PureMusic/Vinyl's built-in crossover and fuzzmeasure plus a calibrated mic. i've been trying to time-align the three drivers of my speaker using fuzz, but i'm not sure whether using impulse or step response or time aligning for phase. also i wonder if i'm really the only one that does not like LR 4th order crossovers? i find they do more harm than e.g. a 3rd order butterworth. christian
  2. the looks are a little cheesy, but the shock protection is also a good sound proofing. the rugged hard disk only comes with a 1 tb hdd (samsung), but you can replace it with a 2 or 3 tb hdd. it's probably the least noisy eternal hd you can get.
  3. apple uses switchable jack connectors. the spring loaded switch is closed (i.e. bypassed) if no jack is inserted. as soon as a jack is inserted, the contacts are pressed apart and the switch is open (i.e. the signal goes to the jack). the only work around is to open the i-mac and bypass the switch by soldering a wire between the contacts (i.e. the jack still mechanically but no longer electrically opens the switch). might be a bit tricky though. then use SoundSource to switch between the internal speakers and external. the other option would be a cheap USB dac/headphone/line amp. -fever (new here; this is my first post. hi everyone btw...)
