  1. I'm relatively new to computer audio. Recently I've downloaded several hi-res files from HDTracks.com. On playback (using Audirvana + and iTunes) I quite often hearing a "crackling" sound from my speakers. My DAC can only do a maximum 24/96 so I never download files with higher resolutions than that (on the advice of HDTracks). The problem is periodic as there are times when the high-res files playback cleanly. I'm using a new Mac Mini connected via USB to a Wyred-4-Sound DAC - 1. The problem only happens with hi-res files played back through Audirvana +. (When I play those files though iTunes (16/44), there is no extraneous speaker noise. Any advice to solve this frustrating problem would be greatly appreciated.
  2. New to the forum. I'm close to pulling the trigger on a DAC purchase, but with today's Thunderbolt announcement, I'm already concerned I might be buying dated technology. Intel's press release specifically mentioned "professional audio" applications. Appreciate any thoughts.
