Whoops. Sorry for the reply here. Not sure why I thought this was directed at me. Still learning how to use the search functions.

  2. When you select "Airplay" in Audirvana Plus, there is only one rate: 44.1 kHz. It will say 24 / 44.1 kHz on Audirvana Plus, but it's really 16 / 44.1 kHz. You don't need to do anything bar selecting "Airplay" - downsampling is automatic. Also, as far as I know, only Airplay / Audirvana Plus works with ATV2 / 3. Having said that though .....
  3. If I play any files (up to 24 / 192kHz) via Audirvana Plus with Airplay (mostly ATV2 / Nurforce DDA-100), yes it will "down sampling", but there is no issues, either in "playlist" or "iTunes Integrated mode".
  4. Hi Have just got back into listening music (after 5 months M/C), but have changed from Schitt / HD 600 to Nuforce DDA-100 & Elac 201 speakers. So, in Singapore / Malaysia or other countries if really keen -- for sale: All: Schitt BiFrost Schitt Asgard Sennheiser HD 600 Stereo Headphones $800 SGD The equipment is just on one year old - brought in mid May 2012. Have only used for 7 months though. I can sell at individual components - just email me.
  5. As per on the MacBook 13 pro - optical is: 44.1, 48, 88.2 & 96 kHz. No "Int" mode 1. All "outputs" from Audirvana Plus can handle DSD / SACD ISO pcm converts.
  6. Just to follow on: USB is "Nuforce adaptive" - 44.1, 48.0 & 96kHz. "Int" mode 1 works fine. (audirvana plus 1.4.9) The sound is very good for speaker matching - and it's a nice alternative to the Schitt equipment.
  7. Well, after a 5 month away from music, I brought a Nuforce DDA-100 to replace bits and pieces (as my wife won't let me use Schitt Bifrost / head phones etc). It sounds quite good with the Elac 201 / ATV 2 -- AirPlay from laptop with Audirvana Plus working good as well with SACD / DSD conversions to PCM. Only have approx 3 hours of play so sometime to go to "burn it in". Am using the Apple Remote with iPhone / iPad for AirPlay control.

    Audirvana 1.4

Time to chime in. (Given "life" has decided to "reality" check me: sick, dead LCD TV, B&W MM-1s with one dead speaker just out of warranty, wife rushing off to China as mother very sick) Audirvana + 1.4 --- no burbs, stutters, wrong tracks, errors of any sort. Easy :-). Longer detail: Macbookpro 13" playing Audirvana + 1.4 with iTunes 11.0 integrated mode using "Audirvana proxy" files feeding from 5 ghz apple wireless "across" to 2.5 ghz through to macmini 2009 and external 1tb FireWire HDD. Macbookpro connected via USB to Schitt Bifrost connected to Music Inifinty amp to ELAC 201s. Sounds very nice - last night being even better by NOT using power with macbookpro 13. All options selected: hog, direct, max buffers & integer mode. Maybe should stop always "upgrading" software all the time. CODA: dam amps can drive you "insane" at times. My amp has an "extremely" dicky volume pot -- so much so I try and leave it in the one position and need be "adjust" the volume with Audirvana Plus. Nothing in life is "free".
  9. Not sure this is the complete answer, but I use a FiiO D3 DAC -- which is a optical to "RCA" DAC - connected to ATV2 optical, B&M MM-1s connected to "RCA" on FiiO D3 via "aux" analogue connection. I don't have any issues at all - audio for music / movies etc. The ATV2 - purely "wireless" connectivity - the Mac Mini server is in my bedroom, while ATV2 is in my lounge room.
  10. Some things with iTunes 11: 1. Playing with Audirvana plus (1.3.9.11 with exclusive, direct, max buffers) with proxies / iTunes integration - no issues as long as iTunes is not the "frontest" most app - found the tracks are sensitive to any change. 2. A "win" - used to have a lot of issues with iTunes 10 - one track from a "CD" would never "list" with the rest of the tracks -- i.e. track 1 from Black Sabbath's Master of Reality. iTunes 11 - no worries, every thing is "listed" as the one CD (well SACD ISO). 3. Hard to quantify - but iTune 11 does sound good - not using any DACs at work - just my baby Sennheiser PX100-IIs.
  11. This is very interesting - as I have the albums mentioned as well. Actually about 48 (?) downloads from either buying the B&W MM-1s or subscribing to Computer Audiophile. It's a shame that not everything as it seems & I guess would be hesitant to subscribe directly - but as an extra it's been interesting to discover some different music.
  12. Just briefly (as work looms) but I have my father to thanks. From a very young age ( 4 or 5 ?) my father has always had a good LP collection / HiFi system. "Blame" him for my love of Wagner / "Crazy" Otto (Klemperer), jazz etc. It got very confusing in our house as my brother & I "acquired" our own systems - three in the house. :-) I compare it to my wife, who grew up in China at the tail end of the "Cultural Revolution / Red Guard" period - she didn't have any time / money for "music" purchases, equipment, so my wife has minimal interest in music - barring what she hears on the TV. Luckily enough both my sons are expressing an interest - mainly playing music on "smart phones / headphones" but it's good to see - even if my 7 year old son likes "K-POP".
  13. Damien - to paraphrase Trillian from HHGTG: "Normality has returned". Previously was experiencing a "hit" per track / approx every 5 minutes, only a small issue - like a tape splice, but sufficient to be noticed. Have now been listening to a SACD iso (over a wireless link) and nothing - no hit, clicks, or stutters. Back to "normality". Thanks a lot :-)
  14. More 'technical details' in Ars Technica: Sony faces setback as hackers release PlayStation 3 decryption keys | Ars Technica Sigh, unfortunately it's like 17 months too late as I passed my SACDs onto my father -- who's 5000 miles away :-)
