  1. In a word: Yes. There is an app for iPad and iPhone that can be used to control the various Sooloos products. The app creates a copy of the Control 15 touchscreen on your Apple device of choice and essentially acts as a remote while the Sooloos is hard-wired to an ethernet connection. I even think the app is free.
  2. As a jazz lover, I find that the user interface on the Sooloos makes it hands-down the best option for the music collector with a deep collection. The "Swim" function on the Sooloos alone is worth the purchase. For example, if I perform an artist search on jazz uber-drummer Jeff Hamilton, the Swim function will pull up EVERY CD I own that Jeff appears on. Works by Diana Krall, the Ray Brown Trio, the Clayton Brothers, etc. will appear along with all the CDs recorded under Jeff's name. Literally every disc I own that he appears on will be accessed by such a search. Even if it's just a guest appearance on a single track of another artist's CD. No other server offers that function. Likewise, you can search your catalog by song title, composer, record label, producer, etc. I would think that many of these search "perks" would translate to the classical music world as well. A previous post mentioned a Sooloos Control 15 for sale on Audiogon for about $ 5800.00. It has been my experience that licensed Meridian/Sooloos dealers will match that price. I don't know anyone who's paid the full MSRP of $ 7500.00 for the system. One reason to purchase from a licensed dealer is the fact that warranties for Meridian products are often voided upon sale to a third-party. In the past, Meridian has frowned on the transferability of their warranties. So my advice would be haggle and go for a new unit if at all possible.
