  1. Okay, think i"ve answered my own question, a quick google search turns up XLD, should do the job me thinks. Cheers Aid.
  2. Hey folks. Just purchased a Naim Unitiqute today. So I'm going to have to rip my cd's to access my whole collection. Can you suggest the best software to do this on a Mac OSx. Don't mind buying rather than freeware if its going do a better job. Will be using Eye Connect to serve my music from my Mac. Its a bit of a shame cos I do have Amarra on my mac but this will not be getting utilised I guess, as I have to use the Naim Nstream app? Not that bothered but seems a shame. The Naim Unitiqute sounded absolutely awesome in the showroom today, I reckon it bettered my Musical Fidelity A5 cd/amp, which I've recently sold. Can't wait for my new little box to arrive at £1000 GBP, the recent pricedrop makes it excellent value me thinks. Anyways, your software ripping suggestions will be appreciated so thanks in advance. Aid. England. p.s. FYI my speakers are B&W Nautilus 805.
  3. Hi Folks, Not that well up on Computer Audio, but I do love my hifi, have sold off my cd player to make the leap into CA, so go easy. Just about to purchase a DAC, the Arcam rDac KW and rWave dongle, I have Amarra running on a Macbook (the Amara software sort of piggybacks iTunes). Question is this, if I control my Macbook with my iPad (via remote app) will the music that get streamed to my system from iTunes be via Amarra? or will that software be bypassed (making it useless), they are both linked together on my Macbook. I will hardwire the the DAC also at times, but I just want to be able to use this option at times. Hope this makes sense? The rest of my system Musical Fidelity A5 integrated amp. B&W Nautilaus 805's. Thanks in advance. Aid.
  4. Thanks realhifi, some real food for thought there. I'd like to keep the 805's as I've always loved them to be honest, so I really don't mind keeping my current setup. Like the sound of a squeezebox/Dac combo, could I control the SB with my ipad? What do you think about a Sonos Z90/rArcam combination? As superfi have that combo for £500 which I thought looked good value (+bridge for £75). Or maybe MF M1 Dac on through a squeeze box? would that be superior? As those options are easily in my price range as I enter this new domain I could upgrade later. To be honest my macbook is used also by my daughter so i don't really want to tie it up in my audio system, just use for ripping etc, so maybe I could get a NAS? Any thoughts on those combos? Only real criteria is that I use my ipad to control & get best possible audio quality. Thanks Aid.
  5. Okay, guys, newbie here so go easy. I'm (or have been) an audiophile from the traditional old school of the two channel compact disc brigade. But browsing (excellent) forums like this, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out what the future holds for cd replay, although I'm sure they'll always be a niche market for it. So, to cut a long story short, here's my question/problem. Which way shall I go with my new digital streaming system? Given that I've seen the light & ditched my CD Player (Musical Fidelity A5), just sold it on ebay so that's £600 in the pot for a new system. I have a Musical Fidelity A5 intergrated amp, for which I could probably (if I need to & can't use with any new streaming/digital setup) raise the same amount, so that's 1200/1300 in the pot. And I have a pair of B&W Nautilus 805's which I could get the best part of a grand for, so lets say I have £2000 to be conservative to play with. I currently own a Macbook & I also have an ipad. Could someone point me to the best set up I can possibly my get bang for buck with as regard audio quality/ease of use? I would preferably like to use my ipad to control any new system with & if I can keep either my speakers or amp all the better. I was thinking originally about the one box Naim Unitiqute or is there a better path? Hope this makes sense Help please, Many thanks in advance. Aid.
