  1. I have never been successful in getting my Mach2 / Weiss DAC202 to sound nearly as good as my Esoteric P-03 / Weiss DAC202 combination, for what that's worth. From my very novice perspective, one of the primary keys to better sounding computer audio products is focusing the efforts of the microprocessor towards dealing with audio functions as much as possible, and my guess is that we will see the best performance from systems where the operating system has been built around a CPU, rather than trying to "slim down" the operating system (e.g.; Mac, Windows) of a platform built for multiple purposes. Having said that, please don't misconstrue the comments above as any indication that I have any meaningful Idea of what I am talking about.
  2. I have decided to go the Mach2 route, as I will most certainly give myself a monster headache if I continue trying to pursue the DIY route.
  3. The literature describes the above-noted external SSD as being able to function as if it was an internal SSD, and suggests the possibility of saving the use of the original MacMini internal hard drive as a backup. I don't have the technical understanding to determine if the Mini's internal hard drive can actually be made "dormant"; enabling the external SSD to run without the HD adding noise, but would welcome information from anyone who may have some insight into this. I am somewhat reluctant to jeopardize the warranty on a new Mini, and am hoping an external SSD approach might solve my problem. Thanks in advance to anyone who resounds, and I apologize if I missed this question if it was previously addressed on this site.
