  1. Actually I use the MSB Diamond DAC IV and their Platinum Studio ADC with Femtosecond clock for all PCM I do have a Playback Designs MPS-5 and the Grimm AD1, but it's relegated to DSD only from my Sonoma system.
  2. I tried the new filters in the Bricasti and I still don't care for it. It's still too edgy, bright and thin sounding. The bass has no body and there is no depth to the stereo field. The good thing is that the new filters are better than the last, though 2 are still the same.
  3. The tape was transferred using a highly modified Studer A80RC MkII with Flux ER heads into a MSB Platinum Studio ADC with the Femtosecond Galaxy clock recorded to a Pyramix workstation at 32/192. SRC was done with Saracon.
  4. I have Focal pro monitors and am using the Mytek Stereo192-DSD. Haven't heard anything better under $5k. It really comes close to my Playback Designs MPS-5 at $17k
  5. How can they provide "mastering information" if it's not known?
  6. How do you expect HDtracks to know when it's not even documented on the album?? http://www.allmusic.com/album/every-picture-tells-a-story-r19100/credits
  7. Bruce at Puget Sound Studios has already been doing tape transfers for HDtracks and many other audiophile labels. He's using Grimm AD1 converters with his Sonoma system and doing transfers from modified Studer A80RC machines. If anyone should do it, it would be him.
  8. I don't know what you have but the HDtracks download is 24/88.2 since it came from the SACD. https://www.hdtracks.com/index.php?file=catalogdetail&valbum_code=HD095115506929
  9. Yes, they wrote their own algorithms which they still use today.
  10. That's why HDtracks and Puget Sound Studios worked for months getting just the right DSD->PCM conversion. Odd-integer DSD conversions just don't sound right. DSD conversions have to be 44.1, 88.2, 176.4 or 352.8 to sound right.
  11. Too bad Socrates7 because that's where the MPS-5 shines. I've used the MPS-5 for about 2yr and have tested it against numerous DACS. I use mine with the Sonoma system. I feel on PCM it does just as well.
  12. The QOL is a stereo field editor. You can achieve the same exact results with a Rupert Neve Portico 5014 which will allow you to create the effect from 0 - 100% at a much cheaper price. If you have an analog console you can create the effect in a DAW by using the M/S algorithm. <br /> The QOL DOES increase voltage by more than .1v<br /> You can read more about it here:<br /> <br /> <br /> http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?4384-Stereo-Field-Processing
  13. almost 12TB About 4000 or so SACD rips of stereo and MC a few thousand DVD-A and Blu-ray rips location recordings over the past 10yr.
  14. No, the pops/ticks between tracks have not been solved. Yes, Mr. Wicked knows about this and sent me the latest update.
