  1. Instead of converting all your FLAC files to AIFF (which will require more disk space), you should try the Pure Music player. A free 15 day fully functioning demo is available on their website at http://www.channld.com/puremusic/. I tried both Amarra and Pure Music and they both sound great. Pure Music costs only $130 and is much more flexible with their license. PM plays FLAC files using the iTunes interface. You don't need to convert your files. It's a very smart FLAC implementation that offers the best of both worlds, a great FLAC player using the iTunes interface and remote.
  2. You may want to consider a modified Mac Mini offered by Mach2 Music. I haven't heard one but understand it made quite an impact at CES and has been discussed in this forum. Here's their website: http://www.mach2music.com/index.html Also there's been a great deal of discussion on this forum about the Mac Mini's power supply which can be upgraded to yield significantly improved sound. Bolder makes a good linear PS that has received excellent reviews but it looks like it can only be used on the earlier Mac Mini's that have the outboard power supply.
