  1. Hi Damien, I´m trying to use the Vintage Tube Program Equalizer from IK multimedia (part of the previous T-Rack5 suite). KVR: Vintage Tube Program Equalizer by IK Multimedia - Details Thanks for looking into it.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it but no avail. Audirvana still quits unexpectedly once I try to save or cancel any settings in the AU panel. However, this does not happen with the apple au bundled in. I guess there must be some incompatibility with the ik multimedia ones.
  3. AUtab is not working when saving or modifying presets. It crashes Audirvana. Just tried loading an EQ from IKmultimedia and although it is recognised, once I try to configure any settings within the AU panel window (wheter I cancel or save) it crashes audirvana.
  4. I connected my my Mac Mini via HDMI to LED TV, added a mouse and keyboard, opened the Force Quit dialog and decided to have a look at what was going on (as I normally run this thing headless). After launching A+ with Itunes integration, played an album by "A Camp", after playing five songs in a row, 28 seconds after the beginning of track number 6, Audirvana + stopped playback followed by a sort of modem noise coming out of the speakers (about 2 seconds long). Quickly notice the beachball ball and the "Audirvana+ Not responding (red text) in the force quit box. Then in less than 5 seconds KP message was displayed followed by self restart.(automatic restart after KP is a feature that came after 10.7) So, no, i do not agree that this is a problem of terms, it is simply one thing leading to another. KPs are caused by various reasons, one being software bugs, and considering that the program in question is still in a beta stage, trying to pinpoint the cause or at least reproducing the seen behaviour would be rather common practice when trying to find a fix. On the other hand I don´t think myself or others here are complaining about the issues, I presume we are all aware of what "testing" is and what that implies. We simply want to help Damien in improving something already so good as the audirvana + we all know.

    BitPerfect

Cool news! hopefully we´ll get to try its new direct mode
  6. Just updated to 1.3.9.8 from 1.3.9.7 and now Kernel Panics are more recurrent than before. Have now reverted to 9.7 What I have noticed is that KP´s occur after about 25-35 (1.3.9.7) mins of continuous playback. Regardless of whether HR material is being played or not, Audirvana stops at any point during any random track. May I just mention that in my case I am using the iTunes integration mode as I run a headless mini. Not sure if the same behaviour could be replicated or reproduced when running A+ by itself.
  7. Have just downloaded Plex 0.9.5 beta and while playing with it decided to check if an old bug related to playback of ALAC files had been corrected with the new release. Nor only was it corrected but I also believe the audio engine has been improved an awful lot. I was very pleased with the sound coming out of it, to the point I literally stopped fiddling with settings on Plex and just sit back and played a couple of albums. Boy the sound was nice and tight. Only thing missing is automated sample rate switching. Has anybody tried it so far? would be nice to see what others think about this new release.
  8. Hello Everyone, Just wanted to give you all a heads up, in case no one has tried it so far, about a new kid on the block: Bitperfect 0.24 https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B7_M4k2-u6z_M2NkYjIxZjUtZTA1ZS00NGYwLWFkOTgtMzA5ZjcyN2FiZGE2&hl=en_GB&authkey=CNin6YMK At the moment there is no official website, as the developer is hoping to have this app available through the Apple App Store in the near future. I have been testing it for the past week and I must admit I am very impressed with the results, considering the early stage in its development. This player runs in the background (sets itself on the menu bar) allowing you to use iTunes as the main interface. Here is a list of the features made available so far: - Integer mode playback - x2 x4 Upsampling - Auto Sample rate switching The app is being developed by a guy called "agentsim" and you will find him hanging around the head-fi forums. As always, there are some minor bugs and there might be some other issues.
  9. Yep it is a bit of a bummer, but Apple has not allowed FLAC playback on iTunes since it uses its proprietary ALAC format. If you really need to play your music via iTunes, you can use Fluke. Again, if your intention is to use Pure Music along with iTunes, then PM will do the playback for you, while still being able to use the iTunes IU and remote app. Alternatively you can try using one of the free audio players available, such as Audirvana and Decibel, both with really great sound. Also, there is Fidelia, which I just recently started using, and personally, found so far superior and more robust than other offerings. But then again, it´s all matter of listening and deciding what fits your needs. Finally, as a last resort, you may give up on FLAC (not suggesting you do so) and convert all of your library onto AIFF or ALAC. Again, only showing you the choices out there. I can´t think of anything else at the moment, maybe other forum members can contribute with better ideas.
  10. Maybe I´m not understanding you correctly, but do you mean to be expecting the same behaviour as Pure Music or Amarra? - Because this will not be the case, as Fidelia works as a standalone player, that however, will allow you to import your itunes library xml and independently from the itunes UI.
  11. No need to go go all the way up to eleven on the RAM, I guess 4GB will be a more than adequate upgrade. I was simply quoting the maximum you could add to it.
  12. a mac mini (2010 version) will have more than enough power to handle most media centre tasks, while still remaining virtually silent. However if you do intend to use it along with Amarra or Pure Music (Memory Play and so on), you may consider adding more RAM (Up to 8GB) to it, as the standard mac mini comes with 2GB only. Another advantage of a mac mini is the system stability offered by OS X and other minor advantages such as the ability to create and run your own/built-in scripts / no need to run an antivirus if used only as a dedicated media centre station. For other media playback functionality (movies, video streaming, etc) you may try Plex as well.
  13. Using 24bit MBit+ as I tend lo level the volume up and down a bit, depending on the album being listened too. Version 1.0.1. has sorted the issues I was having with ALAC, so it´s all nice and sweet at the moment. Right now cacheing 7000+ waves.
  14. Hello All, This is my first comment in these forums, so I´d like to share my recent experience with Fidelia: First of all, I have to say (IMHO), that so far it is the most comprehensive audio player available and only seconded by Decibel. After trying both Amarra and Pure Music I have come across a series of issues, bugs and playback glitches that do interfere with my listening, not to mention that they strongly rely on iTunes, which is not always desirable. Fact is, Fidelia has only had issues when importing large directories with ALAC encoded files, but any other than that, it has performed very well for a first release. Sound-wise I found Fidelia very precise and balanced, with well controlled bass and good dynamics. Like other "Audio Players" out there, it has its own sonic characteristics, some I have come to really appreciate, like its sparsed sound and laid back attitude, more or less like Decibel, but the sound produced through Fidelia is more inviting. But what I like the most is its seamless operation; once the library is up and running, get the remote app or vnc-it via another computer and there is nothing but pure joy (literally just the music). Obviously, I would like to see a better library management, cover art and customized up-sampling options on future releases, but like I said it before, this not bad at all for a first retail release and it is such a major departure from other offerings out there.
