  1. Hooked these up to Devialet d200 via macmini USB. Crisp, detailed, super punchy and spacious. Volume is HUGE with no distortion in medium to large living room. Not clinical to my ears and good at low levels. Metal, classical, vocals, electronic, disco, 80s, jazz , bossa nova all sound sweet if well produced. Great sound stage. Devialet SAM adds bass. Space permitting in future I might add subwoofers (given my bass fetish) but it's not urgent and perfectly fine since I'm in a temp apartment. Very pleased - great option if floor standers don't work in your room...
  2. 'DFA compilation' is great, and anything on DFA most definitely - peaches -for some hard core beautiful bass beats
  3. After much research and discussion with architects, wife etc I've decided on bookshelf speakers with a ceiling sub woofer because of the configuration of the room and hidden TV behind sliding panel. Likely I will go for a kef reference 1 book shelf as I've heard very good reviews about its output and sq and I believe it's Sam 'd for Devialet which helps. Thanks everyone for your advice. Will let you know next year how it all sounds and what the final choice is!
  4. I just bought def technologies symphony 1 with anc and really happy with them. Great sound quality and comfortable. Can be used wired or Bluetooth - when the anc battery runs out the sound is a little thin but still ok. Good news is that it's Usb charging so no need to carry batteries around. They're a little bulky but I prefer over ears...
  5. Looks like I'll probably go with sonance or stealth audio invisible in wall speakers and subwoofer. I believe they both have wide dispersion tweeters so location and toe in might be managed ok... Although maybe not perfect, I need to compromise on something it seems given situation. Will also probably run a couple of invisible ceiling speakers and connect to another separate amp for surround sound HT ( this is not a priority as main purpose is music). Anyone have any thoughts on comparison between stealth and sonance higher end invisible speakers? I cannot listen to them until July when I visit back home...
  6. Not sure about those as never tested them personally but from my research 'definitive technologies symphony 1' is what I may purchase instead
  7. Thanks rob - will check them out! Might also ditch the bench and go with floor-standers
  8. Sonance is the other one I'm looking at it. Sonance seem to have the best 'invisible' look but not sure now they compare sq wise to the others- they look plenty smaller...
  9. Just checking out paradigm and b&w in walls as well. The speakers seem to be oriented more towards a surround system so I'll check if they're ok for pure stereo application. Around $6k for these plus woofer.
  10. Sure no worries it all helps! I may end up going with floor standing speakers and ditch the bench in the end. Or if I can find great on walls that might cost around $5k or more it's a possibility. Problem with inwall also is that it stays in the house if you move (which is possible for us)...
  11. Thanks Steinway look way out of my price range. I'll check Wisdom but house is in Australia and will check if they have a dealer in my vicinity . The 'insight series' might be in budget but not sure how it would sound with d200 - will check $ and if available in Australia. Speakers mainly for stereo application so not sure if this would work with the 'insight' set up which may be more oriented to ss and may need special room set up.
  12. Thanks for the Lightning fast responses! I'm not particular regarding brands. Budget is a little flexible but I always like good bang for buck - maybe $5k or so but could go up or down if the sound justifies it. I'd read generally that inwalls don't offer same sq on dollar for dollar basis as floors or books? Actually inwalls are preferred re wife factor and obviously because of the bench design. I'll do some research on the suggested speakers listed and reply again later. I came across the beolab 18 ?which apparently is designed for on wall application but have never heard them and I suspect they'd fail the bang for buck test, and even the wife doesn't like look of them. Aesthetics wise we prefer not too large, slim design and preferably simple look with a birch type grain. Eg. Scandinavian style in keeping with modernist architecture. In time I'd also consider doubling up to d400 so the speaker choice hopefully could accommodate that in a few years time... Thanks again
  13. Hi everyone I just purchased the d200 and very happy with it. Running very old jamo 7.7 mid fi floor standing speakers that sound great compared to old rotel amps. We are designing a new house extension that may feature a low slung marble or concrete bench running along the wall where the entertainment unit / tv will go. Issue: we would prefer to keep the bench but that would mean scrapping floor standing speakers and replacing them with wall or other 'book shelf' speakers that can actually sit on bench / shelf, without stands , but do justice to the d200. Happy to have a sub woofer to sit under bench for added base response. Quite reasonable room maybe 8m x 5m. I prefer the sound of floor standing speakers and have heard the atohm book shelf ensemble Devialet speakers but want something with more grunt at higher volume etc. Sam ready preferred but I haven't seen anything of this type (wall Mount) on Devialet site that might be suitable. If nothing is available I will need to scrap the bench and run with upgraded floorstanding speakers like pen audio signature series... But this is not preferred. Any thoughts most welcome.
