  1. but that might not have all that clear. I'll look into it all. Thanks for your reply anyhow...
  2. I noted that you said silver remains a conductor even if oxidized. That's good news, but doesn't the lack of plastic in these places interfere with the signal transfer? Either way, I'd really like to get the silver cleaned and the plastic covering sealed again. So that the oxidation doesn't make it blacken further. Does anyone know if such refurbs can be made? I wouldn't trust myself to to do these sort of things. Sincerely mm
  3. I've decided to try and reverse the trade. I have no desire to eventually deal with the hassle of reselling flawed cables, especially when I didn't cause the problems. Thanks again mm
  4. My new second hand cables have burn marks on some strands where the cable has oxidized. I was a bit disgruntled seeing this as the ad had condition down as "excellent" albeit with some "rub marks". Is this normal wear (and doesn't affect SQ) or am I in my rights to complain and try to reverse the trade? This may be a stupid question, but if so, please enlighten me. Sincerely mm
  5. thanks for that twdodge, just bought some new cables on a whim so my hifi funds are exhausted at the moment. But will def look into it once I can actually afford it and still make rent. :-) cheers mm
  6. ok, so an hour after posting my concerns I mosey over to audio circle and find that pi audio and mach2 music seems to have something called the BatteryBuss in the pipeline. Specifically designed for mac mini 2010 and demoing at something called AXPONA (this may be reknowned for all I know, but I live in Sweden and have stayed indoors lately...). Sounds like people like it too...my breath is, as they say, bated :-)
  7. thanks, that does make me feel a little better. :-)
  8. What PS do I use for best sound with the mac mini 2010? I've read through some threads (incl a veery long one) on mac mini power supplies, alot of info - however not conclusive what I should actually do. Please help me out of this buyers remorse, how do I power the new mini optimally? Can the Bolder linear power supply be used for the new mini for instance? Cheers
  9. Brought home a mac mini 2010 yesterday. Ended up getting it with: 8gb RAM 120gig ocz ssd Just wanted to say thanks for the input and that I'm very pleased with it. It sounds better to my ears than my 4gb RAM macbook and looks pretty in my media unit. Cheers
  10. thanks for that rascal, I'll take that onboard when shopping tomorrow. If not too pricey I think I'll get a small SSD one then. Cheers
  11. I've decided to go for the new mac mini w 8GM RAM, but what about harddrive? I don't plan to use for much since I plan to use a NAS - does it then matter if the harddrive is SSD or not with regards to noise? Cheers
  12. thank you for your input sidssp and darascal. greatful for the elaboration on the size RAM required and the buying refurb idea. Will definitely narrow my search, cheers!
  13. I'll search the 2nd hand market for the new version and see what turns up.
  14. Hey AudioDoctor, thanks for replying. Does the RAM matter even with pure music's memory play and an asynch dac?
  15. Setting up NAS+mac mini as my macbook has had it's fill. What mac mini though? It will be a dedicated component. So maybe I don't need a very up to date or powerful one to do the job right? Advice on this? Cheers
