  1. Hi Guys, Stumbled across this post, I think it needs some clarification. I'm mastering in 24/352.8 for titles that need to have digital processing in the form of retouching and or "fixing" mostly in my archival work (if anybody has dealt with 60 year old tape they know). DSD is very limited in this area. That's why other labels record in DSD convert to PCM and then back to DSD for distribution. i won't do it this way because of the degradation in the sound the best way I have found is master the digital master to DXD then do your conversion from there which I believe is the least detrimental and best sounding method (2L uses this method). DXD was originally planned for DSD editing to begin with because of the limitations, because of such a high resolution there is very little degrading of the sound on the conversion. As for customers doing there own conversion from the DXD master I don't believe there is a consumer SRC program that will convert from DXD (Audio Gate will only go up to 24/192 PCM) On the other hand the "clean" master tapes I have mastered are recorded in "pure" DSD with no PCM editing and they are marked on my site by a special logo. You can find more about this on our site and it will tell you what logos to look for. Here is the link: https://www.highdeftapetransfers.com/page.php?wid=27 Also here is a list of all our current DSD releases: http://www.highdeftapetransfers.com/page.php?wid=28 FYI Our DTR titles are in "pure" DSD IMO are excellent some are stunning BTW We have won a 2013 PF Brutus Award for our DSD titles Thanks Bob HDTT
