  1. I was thinking on keeping the speaker but how would I connect them to the Dac (Emotiva XDA-1 DAC )since they use old copper cables ? I also like the idea of an all in one Receiver/Dac/amp but the one from peachtree are a bit pricey for my budget. any other suggestion ? so the setup would be : (Pc) to (M2Tech hiFace)to (Emotiva XDA-1 DAC) or (all in one)to speaker. If i choose to got with emotiva DAC and keep my old speaker I will need an amp, right ? any suggestion ? thanks a lot guys you are a great help !
  2. Wow thanks David ! will check this out !
  3. I don't really know... :-( I just want good sound. i was thinking about a dac (MagicDAC from cambridge) but then i read about some sound card (asus Xonar and Lynx). Should I keep the Akai or just get rid of it ? I don't own any cd anymore (Mp3 Flac and aiff mostly all 320kbs or better)so i just need one input (the pc) Do I still need the amp or can I get a DAC that would do it's job ? I would also like to use that pc as an HTPC but i don't care about surround sound i prefer stereo setup. My videocard outputs 5.1 sounds in HDMI ... is this an option or will it ruin the sound of the music ? Can a dac read sound from movies ? i guess i'm a real noob :-) thanks for trying to help me....
  4. Hi all, This is my first post on this site. I'm also new to the computer audiophile scene, but like everyone here I love my music :-) So here it is, I'm looking to upgrade my current setup. Which is not saying much since this setup is pretty bad Computer running windows 7 64bits Itunes Onboard sound card goes to Akai AA-R50 (i think it's 30 years old) out with 3.5mm mini to RCA cable from the computer's headphone jack and then to Polk audio R50. I know my motherboard can output S/PDIF. All the equipment as been given to me... so I don't mind spending a couple of bucks to upgrade. Let's say under 1000$ what's the best way to go ? I've been reading on DAC and Receiver and I'm kinda lost. What would u do with that setup. I mostly listen to Jazz, Blues and Metal. Thanks for reading and many thanks if you take the time to drop me a line :-) P.S. Sorry for my bad english, french is my first langage !
