My first post here.
I am in the process of switching to a computer based setup. I have a Sony DVP-NS975V for SACD playback. I am using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro as a DAC and headphone amplifier. My dilemma is the following one:
1) The Sony has an SPDIF output that won't spit out SACD output, only CD output. If I want to to listen to the SACD layer, I would have to use the line outs. That said, according the specs, the machine has a 192/24 DAC.
2) The M-Audio is capable of operating at 96/24 with NO inputs activated. Using either its spdif or line inputs would bump me down to 48/24 or 48/16.
3) So I am trying to decide whether it's worth it to connect the player's line outs to the M-Audio, downsampling my whole system to 48/24 or well, just not mess with it and use my computer's CD player for listening to the redbook layer of those SACD and keeping my system running at 96/24.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.
