  1. Thank you Peter. I may acquire another U1 Mini, but not before making sure, if I did, that it was workable.
  2. @wklie Is it possible to have two U1 Mini connected to separate TP-Link RE650 wifi extenders on the same network, so that a Mini can be operated in one of the two different systems from the Lumin app on an iPad?
  3. Conveniently Farad Super3 shows current flow/fuse direction by an arrow beside the fuse holder.
  4. Thanks so much for expanding my knowledge of the pertinent power requirements of the EtherREGEN. The manufacturer of the two power supplies since did confirm that the 2amp version would be good (adequate?) for the EtherREGEN. Now I know that the requirements aren't so straight forward as I thought.
  5. Thanks audiobomber. Yes the two devices are very different. Superdad's response certainly illuminates the requirements.
  6. With the EtherREGEN is there any sonic advantage to feeding it with a 12v 4amps power supply as against a 12volt 2amp version of the same respected product? I know the EtherREGEN draws 0.8amp at 12volts. I’m thinking dynamically, peaks etc.?
  7. I'm in Ireland and give instructions to all senders of items to me, for some time now, not to use Fedex. I had several different deliveries on which duty was levied and paid through Fedex on the morning of delivery, and then became the subject, in each case, of an invoice following from Fedex demanding payment. There does not seem to be any link up between different accounts departments in Fedex. I was then embroiled in emails to and fro, supplying proof of payment and it just became more convoluted. Total nightmare.
  8. Having used the EtherRegen for coming up on a year now I was curious to refresh/compare with a directly fed cable into my Lumin U1 Mini. My set up is as described in my signature below. Basically I take the signal from a WiFi extender via two metre AfterDark ethernet cable to the A side of EtherRegen. The EtherRegen is powered by the supplied power supply, through a iFi DC iPurifier 2 at the input of the EtherRegen. A half metre AfterDark ethernet cable then feeds my Lumin U1 Mini. I compared that setup, using a Bluejeans Cat 6 cable directly into the Lumin U1 Mini. The difference between the two setups was completely obvious to hear. The directly fed setup was lacking in body, harmonic content, and musicality as a consequence. There was no way I could listen beyond a few minutes. It was unpleasant by comparison with the EtherRegen setup in line. I believe even a sceptic would immediately identify the difference.
  9. Thanks so much for your work on improving Spotify reproduction Peter. I installed 15.3 this morning and did a quick before and after. It seems to me that the soundstage has become more transparent, with more 'air', and dynamics have improved to my ears. Like you said Spotify is great to discover new music and I like their algorithms that play the kind of music I like. The sound comes across a lot better than the resolution would suggest it should.
  10. I perceive that using a iFi DC iPurifier 2 at the input of the EtherREGEN, while using the supplied standard power supply, brings about an all round improvement in my system.
  11. Thanks for all the information Tom. Below some figures from me. All done directly from my home server in Ireland and also using NordVPN with NordLynx protocol through a NordVPN server in Ireland. On that basis I did a few tests for consistency using Fusion Connect for the tests. No significant variation between them. It would be interesting if you selected NordLynx as the protocol and compared it to no VPN ie 'trusted network' and check if you can detect a difference in sound between them. Liam. Fusion Connect with NordLynx. Down Up Ping Jitter Nord Lynx 63.1 17.6 9 1 63.1 17.6 11 0 63.5 17.6 10 1 No VPN. 66.5 18.5 8 1 66.6 18.4 8 1 65.7 18.5. 9 0
  12. Thanks for your input. By the way I had a look at your system. It’s really great. Well here we have 66mb and it reduces to 63mb with NordVPN. There are no drop outs at all. I will say that my dac gives only silence above 24/96, although it is being offered 24/192 at the input. That’s another issue. When I posted initially I had not checked the main system for the affect. Just now I did and I perceive the same. With NordVPN engaged and NordLynx protocol selected it’s like a blanket is lifted. Overall the sound is more open and soundstage inner space is more clearly accessible. NordLynx protocol selection was the key to this affect when last I checked. The other protocols not so much, if at all, as I recollect last time I toggled through them. NordLynx has much less lines of code I understand.
