  1. Just wanted to say to all...rabid apple people and the non rabid...I am doing my best to try the solutions offered and also trying out JRiver...will let you all know if I ever get to play music on my pc again...thanks to all...I do hope you all realize my husband has a tongue in cheek, slightly acid sense of humour...particularly when he is on a rant...trying to help me....
  2. The issue for me isn't just Apple here..it is Windows too...the two are one (scary thought)...if one is marketing itself as working with windows...it should work...if the other accepts apps from others...it should work...somewhere there should be answers for those of us who do not want to be tied to either as our only option...this whole thing is reminding me more and more of trying to get help from Google...
  3. maybe...not just yet...I am determined to get what I have working without spending more money I do not have at the moment...but thank you for your good wishes
  4. thanks for further info...i will try it....and just so you all know...I do not consider you all at CA a help desk...but a place where views can be exchanged, discussions and debates are welcome, and maybe one can get a little help when encountering problems with some of the music issues we encounter. My husband suggested you because you are smart, thoughtful and helpful...he thinks so...and after all this hoohah...so do I.
  5. dear wgscott....any chance you could explain a bit more??? I do not even know what xml is...but your solution looks relatively simple...just not quite simple enough.....
  6. I searched all over for coverflow info...but only relating to the new version of itunes...this post is from a long time ago and i guess i missed it....it doesn't help me much though as i don't know what they are talking about...however...i will give it the old college try...all i can do is make a mess of it, right????
  7. Your suggestion is a good one...I did search and have searched since for my problem in their forums and found other coverflow issues...but not the one I am having. When I say coverflow does not work...what I mean is that what I get when I chose coverflow is just a huge list of all songs in my library with no album art and the list goes up and covers all of the itunes toolbar and further up...all other views work fine...grid..list etc...with album art...but coverflow just becomes this weird page of songs that covers almost all of the itunes window with a list that is not divided into albums or any divisions at all. Yes..I will post the problem on the Apple forums...having had little success before...when my husband suggested this place...I thought I would try here first. Apple got me to wipe itunes off...uninstall everything in a certain order...bonjour...quick time etc..and then search all the nooks and crannies of my computer to make sure it was all gone. Then reboot and download itunes again...still the same problem. This is frustrating...because itunes and coverflow worked in the old version just fine...even on the new computer...but Apple told me to install the new version and it has been messed up ever since then. And yes...I will check out other Apple products and systems...I might have gone with them if they were not so much more expensive to buy. I do have a budget to stick to.
  8. I am getting involved in this conversation...because it appears to be the one getting the attention...unlike my original post in this forum...which some of you may not have read. I have had my Apple Airport for two years...it never worked properly until recently when I got a new computer and finally got my itunes and airport to work together flawlessly. For about two weeks. Then my hard drive died. My computer was fixed...new drive...wiped clean and reloaded. When I went to download itunes to replace it...the only version it will let me download is the new 64 bit version for windows 7...which is what I use on my pc. Fine. Downloaded it...put my music back in...coverflow won't work...which for me is awful...as I like itunes for it's intuitiveness and for coverflow...i like the visual!!! Apple has been no help at all. Nada. My husband suggested this site for help...and I appreciate the info...but I suggest some of you read my initial post before getting mad at my husband...it is not his problem...it is mine...I am the one having the problem...I am the one who is not computer or audio literate enough...I have now downloaded Jriver...to try it...it may not work for me because I am not an audiophile and not a computer geek...maybe my husband can help...but he should not have to. There has to be a way for me to get itunes or Jriver to work for me...a person who loves music...has a good ear...but has not the inclination to become an audiophile or a computer wizard, and does not feel she has to to be able to listen to music wirelessly and seamlessly through her computer. I also appreciate the love and loyalty of all you Apple lovers out there...but I use a pc with windows...and if a company offers a product that is supposed to work with my system, free or not, then there should be someone who can get it to work. I have tried and tried to get itunes and my airport to be the system it should be...I want coverflow...it is important to me as a visual artist...it worked before for me...why not now????
  9. I have used ITunes for several years with my PC and Windows7 using my Apple Airport Express to wirelessly listen to my music...during this time I have listened to my husband rant and rave about how much he hates Apple and all things Apple, even though he gave me the Airport and set up all my music on my PC as a gift. The reason for the ranting is that the Airport would never work properly...half the time the computer could find it...two seconds later it did not exist. Apple support was mildly helpful but not after the Airport was older than about 18 months...after that they wanted money for tech support. Three computers later we finally have the Airport working flawlessly...and now, after all this time ITunes, which has been fine, is now the problem. I had to get a new hard drive in my HP laptop and then had to put back everything that was lost or backed up. I downloaded the new ITunes for Windows7 64 bit(it won't let me use any other)...and it is great...except coverflow won't work. What I get is a huge list of all the library with no artwork at all on one long page and it goes up over the ITunes toolbar, covering the volume control, search bar and much of everything else. I contacted Apple...after fraudulently getting them on the phone, because none of the support page options were any help, I talked to a nice young man who, also fraudulently, got me an email contact who answered with instructions to uninstall everything from bonjour to quicktime and all in a particular order and the check the files for any stray bits and pieces, restart, update windows and reinstall Itunes. If that did not work he says I have the option of paying for a phone call for further help. Well...it did not work. Itunes is there...all views seem to work fine except coverflow which is the reason we went with ITunes in the first place and not some other music system. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be wrong? And how to fix it? My husband wants me to go elsewhere, like Foobar, but I would like to at least try to get this working.
