  1. ok that's fine too - then clearly state that the microrendu model is not going to change to the newer hardware in the near future. is that the case? the curre
  2. I think you're still missing the point on this one. I don't mind waiting on line - put me on the back of the line. But when it's my turn, I still don't understand why you're unwilling to sell me a new microrendu with the new board, instead of asking me to buy a used machine which I would then return??
  3. your rationalization makes little sense. even if every existing customer chose to upgrade their device first, there still would not be any way for new customers to subsequently purchase a 1.4 microrendu without going through some sort of convoluted exchange and return. i actually was just about to purchase one. i was just reading through this thread before i did, and happened to stumble upon this issue. now i will certainly wait for this issue to sort itself out first, and may very well buy a different product instead -- now that i know what i would be buying is a soon to be outdated version of the product, and without any simple way to purchase the new version directly
  4. Ok, got it. I do find it a little strange, though, that the "official" solution is to use some sort convoluted workaround. Sonore is already sending (previously purchased) microrendu's with the 1.4 board from the factory to the customer -- however, if you don't have one already, you can't get one as such. instead you have to buy an old/refurbished microrendu, only to send it back where it came from for exhange. Or you can buy a different model altogether. It's certainly your prerogative to sell your product however you see fit, but from a new customer's standpoint i find it bizarre. just my 2 cents..
  5. Hi- As a first time customer who was about to purchase the microrendu, now i'm not sure whether to buy or wait? it seems silly for me to buy it, only then to send it back to you for a upgrade is there a plan to offer this as a new product with the upgraded board? what would you advise a new customer to do?
  6. is there an option to order new from the website with the 1.4 board?
  7. Perhaps this was answered earlier, but if I place an order from the website today- will I be getting the old 1.3 board or the new 1.4 board? Thank you!
  8. That is interesting. What do you make of it? My Mac Mini is only used for music, nothing else should be competing for resources A few things I could think of: I have a large music library, about 110,000 songs - which i've heard can start to tax Roon's performance. Also what hqplayer filters are you using? I also have the music on a NAS (less likely to be the problem). I've only been playing around with Roon and HQplayer for a few days, so I'd appreciate any opinions ..
  9. Sorry if this is a bit of a cross-post from the Roon forum, but I thought the experts here might be able to help .. I've been trying out Roon + HQplayer for the past week. I have both programs residing on a late 2014 mac mini/2.6 ghz intel core i5/8GB ram/ssd. Upsampling to dsd64 was fine- but I couldn't upsample to dsd128 without massive stuttering. A couple of questions for Roon/HQplayer regulars here: a) is it still worth it to upsample the redbook to dsd64? or does the real benefit arise with 2x, and especially 4x, upsampling? What about upsampling hi-res PCM (ie 24/192) to only dsd64 .. worth it? b) how much of my stuttering problem might be due to the Mac needing to do DoP to get the dsd stream to the DAC? If the problem was more DoP related, what if I installed windows via Boot camp, and then used Roon/HQplayer in windows instead - eliminating the need for the extra resources being devoted to DoP?? Thanks for any help!
  10. I have a desktop and a mac mini music server in close proximity at the same desk. I'm thinking of ditching the desktop's corded mouse and keyboard in favor of a wireless setup (either bluetooth or RF) -- the mac music computer is headless. even though the mac will remain without a keyboard or mouse, is even the close proximity to the desktop's bluetooth/RF keyboard a potential concern for interference? would bluetooth or RF be preferred? thanks!
  11. Bump for the Monday morning folks .. thanks!
  12. Hi- I had been happily playing DSD (.dsf) from a Mac/Pure Music to an iFi Micro, but recently changed to a TEAC UD-503 DAC and can't get DSD to work. After trying to troubleshoot, I've come up with a couple of potential culprits - it seems that perhaps the TEAC doesn't accept DSD over PCM on the USB port, which is the port I'm using (UD-503 | TEAC)? Also it seems that Pure Music only plays DSD via DoP, although Pure Music support documents were hard to find, and the only DSD setup guide from Pure Music I found was from 2012? These two factors appear to make sense though, as the DAC is sensing the Pure Music output as PCM @ 176. Does anyone have experience or knowledge of this issue? More generally, as part of trying to troubleshoot this specific issue, I'm under the impression that Mac's can only use DoP (instead of a native DSD stream), because they don't have ASIO? Am I misunderstanding that? Trying to troubleshoot the DAC, I downloaded TEAC HR player - which WAS in fact able to output a native DSD stream (it claims that it can play 1x, 2x, and 4x DSD on a Mac). I'm obviously missing something here - what is it?! Thanks!
  13. Sorry to revive an old topic, but I recently purchased the UD-503, and have the XLR outs going to active speakers. Is the volume control on the UD-503 an "acceptable" way to control the volume, or should I be looking for a better solution?
  14. thanks... can anyone comment on the rca vs xlr issue? thanks!
  15. After all the helpful suggestions on this thread and some more reading, I'm close to settling on the genelec M040's and the teac ud503. The only other thing I was thinking about was an exasound e12, which is obviously more expensive (but on sale currently) - using a mac mini, I like the idea of their ASIO driver so i don't have to use DoP, and will also be able to use DSD256. But going back to the beginning of this thread- will I be sorry I didnt use an XLR connection to the active speakers (the Exasound only has RCA outputs)? thanks!
