  1. @fabiodeluca No, I don't think that's the case. I doubt very much whether I could reliably tell the difference between Lumin playing with it's native Lumin app and Roon playing through Lumin as a zone. There might be differences for others with better ears than me, I'm simply happy with Roon. Lumin's app is excellent and the sound, too. For me, it's the rich metadata, GUI & slicker Tidal intergration of Roon that matters. Now I think we extremely fortunate to have such a great start to 2017 we can forget Trump & Renzi for a while. Roon interface with Lumin sound is about as good as it gets. I've listened pretty much all afternoon and I think I was wrong in comparing Lumin sound with 'others'. As of now Lumin is the gold standard. Forget
  2. @fabio. Yes, that's pretty much it. At Step 5 you should see your S1 appear automagically as a Roon Ready RAAT device under Settings/Audio on your iPad. It will look like this Once you have that you are golden. Name it what you like then select it as a zone on main page (bottom right) My understanding is same as yours. Under this setup Roon Core on computer is just managing things under instruction from the control point in iPad. The more I listen, the more I like Lumin as renderer under Roon. It's a heavenly match. Good luck.
  3. @erniejade I don't want to derail this thread with so much important Lumin stuff going on right now. Check your messages.
  4. As possibly the most vocal agitator for this, well done Lumin Team and thanks. The cynic in me suspects this has to do with CES 2017 but, credit where it's due, it's done and it works. It works and behaves exactly as described for me and it sounds good. On a first listen, it's close to a microRendu with LPS-1. I can't find any issues. Good luck with the certification.

    HQ Player

Ah, that explains it. I recently changed to minringFIR but changing back to poly-sinc-shrt-mp restores the "full" upsample & allows setting in the main window. Many thanks.

    HQ Player

I use HQP to upsample PCM from Roon via SOSE because of downstream DSP (DEQX limited to 192kHz over USB). It works very nicely but if I set sample rate (/Limit) to 192000 under preferences why does HQP only upsample redbook by power of 4 (176.4) when I don't have Auto rate Family checked. Likewise 44.1 gets upsampled to 88.2 with sample rate set at 96000. The 3rd dropdown box shows only one option "Auto". My understanding from the literature is that HQP will upsample to the limit set under Preferences (Mac). I'm sure I have something wrong somewhere. Thanks
  7. I appreciate your reply, wklie, but you gave a similar answer a month or so back. I think we know it's you who be giving us the solution when it comes and I'm sure it'll be great but the point is, when? It's been a year already. I'm looking for a response from someone who does control scheduling. Surely someone at Lumin can commit to a timescale after one year?
  8. It's exactly one year since the long-departed psme promised "Roon support will be coming soon!" in post #956 of this thread. I would just like clarity from someone in management at Lumin rather than engineers that come and go. I love my Lumin but not as much as Roon. So, are you going to support Roon or not? Obviously Pixel Magic has some people problems judging by the regular job ads in jobsDB.com for the same skills over the last year but a year is quite long enough to make Lumin a Roon endpoint if it is indeed possible and you have the will. The statement was made but there is clearly a problem which you should share IMO because Roon enthusiasts/Lumin owners need to make equipment decisions. So, please tell me clearly: 1. Is it currently possible to support Roon with your architecture? 2. Are you going to do it? 3. If so, when? Thanks
  9. wklie, are you still working towards implementing Roon? If so, is this for all models and when do you anticipate having a Roon firmware update? Build 147 of Roon includes branding for Bryston, PS Audio and Auralic VEGA. No mention of Lumin at all. I guess I am looking for some reassurance that Lumin has a program towards Roon, with a target. psme informed us last November that Roon would be "soon". Thanks
  10. Miska, do you intend to put the Rpi NAA images back up or should I install Stretch & networkaudiod? I am anxious about getting lost in Linux. Thanks
  11. From the Roon 1.2 release: Roon Ready: IQaudIO signal path branding and line art Roon Ready: exaSound signal path branding and line art Roon Ready: Musica Pristina signal path branding and line art Roon Ready: Sonore microRendu signal path branding and line art Squeezebox signal path branding and line art LH Labs USB signal path branding and line art dCS signal path branding and line art and for Lumin? Last news November 2015. SDK been out for months. Embarrassing.
  12. There may be some rare material here that has been preserved forever by the heroic efforts of David Niven and the archivist Kevin Powers, I really hope so for its a lovely story. I took this for a brief spin on some later material (Coleman Hawkins, Ellington and Bill Evans from Milestone LPs) that I'm familiar with and it sounds, well, like vinyl recorded onto cassettes & left on a shelf. Plenty of flutter, wow, tape hiss plus surface noise from the records plus some random bumps & lumps, distortions and volume variations. I feel rather sad. Can't help but think that tape is the culprit here. I hope I was unlucky in my choice but for me this is research material and for all I know that's what was intended. Niven's comments/notes are excellent and reveal much about the man through his selections. I wonder where the discs are now? Marty
  13. Oh yes, & for the last 4 weeks. I'm on the Hong Kong server. Each evening at 22:00 HK time the wheels fall off. None of the workarounds above work. Did you raise a ticket? I will do, now I know it's not only me.
  14. This didn't work for me but I'm on Lumin so maybe different issues to those on Chrome or App. Been signing out and in 2-3 times a session to no effect but what did work is the information from crackerbuzz in post #632 about using Google DNS servers. That, plus whatever changes TIDAL made to their Hong Kong servers has resulted in no stuttering or dropouts for 2 nights. I changed my router settings to Google DNS, signed out, & rebooted everything and said the magic words....
