  1. Hi Chris, Many thanks for the response. I'm just looking it up now. Another friend of mine with a bar in Saigon emailed to say he used an iMac for the bar music and his customers - only those who have iPhones - can link to the iMac via the DJ Application and select songs from the iTunes music collection on his bar iMac. That sounds pretty interesting. Also he said other customers can view the stacked selection of songs waiting to be played and get their friends to "vote" for other songs and they will move up the list according to which songs get the mownt votes. I can imagine a few of my customers getting into punch ups over their songs being "demoted" but it sounds like a real cool feature. Anyway, I'm on the internet now looking it up. Cheers, John
  2. Do any forum members know wether Mac OS X has any JukeBox Applications similar to the Touch Tone mp3 Player Juke Box software for Windows. My friend has put into his small bar and it is a real hit with the customers ..... they can choose their own songs and they stack themselves up and play in the order the customers select them. A really great idea for HDD Music.
  3. Do any of the experienced Mac users know wether there is any way to enable iTunes or any other Mac software to operate like a JukeBox so that listeners can select their own music without having to use a mouse? This is for a small Bar. Something along the lines of the Riptide Touch Tone system available for Windows OS see http://www.mp3touchscreens.com/ I would prefer to go Mac than Windows. Many thanks
  4. Just got back onshore and read all the responses to my question ..... WOW. I am surprised it generated so much information - really useful info to someone like myself just starting down the HDD based music road. For what it's worth, I have met a fellow here in Vietnam who says I don't have any choice and will have to go Windows. This is because I want the coffee shop system to have a Touch Screen Juke-Box style interface so customers can select their own tunes. (Its a Touch Screen which fits over the monitor) My friend uses this system in his Bar. It's called Touch Tone and is a great setup which allows his customers to choose what they want to hear. It stacks up the selections on a first entered / first played basis. Pretty nice. Sadly he, advises me it doesn't work with Apple OS. Nevertheless I really thank everyone for all the great information shared here.
  5. Hi Forummers, I have put the old music PC Jukebox from my bar into my wife's coffee shop having got her agreement that I can buy a new system for myself, heh heh heh heh. I've got quite fond of the convenience of HDD based music using the "TouchTone" touch screen system but now that I can start completely afresh I would like to get feedback from more experienced users on tow aspects of PC Music. (I know Touch Tone doesn't work with Apple OS) 1. Should I go Apple or Windows. (Apple simplicity and the Apple Airport thingy seems intriguing) and a harder question .... 2. I wouldn't mind simplifying my system. I currently have NAIM SBL speakers, NAIM 250.2 power amp and NAIM 122x Preamp with HiCap power supply. It takes up a lot of real estate. I have read that the AVi 9.1 Active speaker system with sub comes complete with internal amps and its own DAC so nothing else is needed but the computer. It sound an attractive prospect BUT ..... do they really sound as good as some of the internet posts say? I'm aware that the AVi speakers are controversial (perhaps more the owner than the speakers) but if they really do produce good sound, then the combination with Apple may make an excellent yet simple and tidy set up. I'm living and working in Vietnam so have no opportunity for auditioning stuff. I have to have friends hand carry from Singapore where the AVi 9.1's are available. But it does make buying a bit of a gamble. I wouldn't sell the Naim gear until I got the Active speakers up and running. Any info from experienced users greatly appreciated. Best regards,
  6. Hi Chris, My first post to this site. Any idea when your research will be complete? I am trying to get my head aound these PC based music systems as I want to install one in my (small) bar to play good sounding music ... not headbanging stuff. I have a good NAIM system in my home but know nothing about PC based systems and unfortunately, the more I read the more confused I get with DAC's, NAS's and other strange abreviations. Cheers
