  1. Thanks very much for that info. I'm surprised it is within my budget - great! Checking out the url and thanks for it as well.
  2. Budget would be up to $900Aust which these days is around the same money in US$. I suspect the Moon 100D would be outside that budget. Is that correct? Sorry don't know much about that DAC.
  3. Yes I've considered the MF M1DAC and would like to find out how it partners with the X-CANv8p. Hopefully well, given they are from the same stable. The M1DAC would be good in my home base system too. :-) Don't know much about the Rega DAC. Any idea of price? Must follow up some reviews. Read several reviews on the rDAC and u have just confirmed their comments of very good USB, with average for the other connections. The other option I've looked at is having a portable headphone amp/USB component, like the CEntrance DACport and leave the MF XCANv8p at home in my base system. Ah the wonder of too many options.
  4. There is a good review of it in the December 2010 issue of Hi-Fi World. The Unitiqute has some great features and the couple of reviews I've read about it are enthusiastic about its sound. Wouldn't mind a unit but here in Australia it is nearly $3,000 and unfortunately out of my price range. :-( GC
  5. I'm after thoughts and recommendations for a DAC. I'm trying to finalise a system for taking on the road in our caravan. The computer is a MacBook with the music files in a lossless format (Apple) and I have a Musical Fidelity X-CANv8p headphone amp driving some Sennheiser HD595. So obviously I require a DAC to connect the laptop to the headphone amp. I've looked at the MF M1 DAC and read on this forum the comments about the USB implementation not being brilliant. The other I've considered is the Arcam Solo rDAC and reading the review and comments on this site gives me confidence in the USB, but I'd also like to be able to connect the DAC up to my Cambridge Audio CD4SE player, when I'm home. Though the comments and review weren't that favourable about the other connections on the rDAC. Would the digital connection of the rDAC be an improvement over my CD player? Even considered the HRT Streamer II+, but that is no good for connecting to my CD player. Finally, I'm open to other suggestions from you good people. Thanks for your time.
