1. using a macbook, I lost output capability to my vlink through usb. I went into audio midi and when I came out of it only macbook internal speakers worked. Even after choosing vlink in preferences. It says "this device has no output controls". I'm stuck. any Ideas? Thanks Brad Well a little more research and I was able to fix the problem. Turned off macbook. Took the battery out for 15 min. Then rebooted in safe mode and got back USB output but only in Itunes. Went back into Pure Music preferences and made VLINK the default and that did it. Apparently many mac users have had this problem.
 2. This was my first show and I was excited to check out some of the equipment I have been reading about for the past couple years. Let me say that I know the rooms didnt allow for the best set ups but I was a little dissapointed. A few observations follow:

1. The big wilsons were more than 20 feet apart and close to the back wall which made for a bad presentation.

2. The magicos in the lobby were definately closed in. I actually came back to this room 3 times because I thought the source material might have been at fault. Every time though, the soundstage was shallow, small, basically there wasnt one.

3. I felt the music, in most rooms was being played too soft. no dynamics

There were a couple bright spots for me.

1.The Von Gaylord room had great sound

2. The Salk Sound room was minimalistic but the Salk speakers were very resolving and smooth. Jim Salk got it right.

3. The chapman T-8 speakers imaged like crazy and I felt had the most natural sounding voices I have ever heard.

All in all it was definately worth the hour and half drive. I am more convinced than ever that DIY speakers will be my next upgrade so I will be able to taylor the sound to my listening room.

Brad
 3. at least as far as the wallet is concerned. The 9.1s are so different that when you do the math vs a conventional system you want to have as much info as you can in order to compare. I guess I just need to jump in and order the 9.1 package and go from there regarding the lower 2 octaves. I was waiting for the final review from Chris before I plunged but all indications are leading to a positive review. Regards, Brad
 4. Ash I have read that using 2 subs is usually better than just one. Hence the question arises. How would two of your subs work in the 9.1 set-up? With one of the speakers being a slave I can't get my head around the idea of 2 subs with this system. Brad
