  1. One last bit of advice if I may....while you are auditioning, try all of the inputs on a given DAC - they are not created equal! Happy Hunting!
  2. I went through a similar dilemma when setting up a system for a relative just a couple months ago. The system ended up consisting of Focal 1028be's, Mcintosh MA2275 and the Ayre QB9. I listened to a ton of DAC's. I won't bore you with a play by play on each one, but I will tell you I didn't like the Benchmark or Bryston in this system as both sounded etched and forward. (Although I did like the Benchmark with a pair of B&W 802's) I haven't heard the Soul Superfly's but I do have experience with Essence and Druids. I would say the Zu sound is closer to Focal than B&W. We settled on the QB9, because it really didn't change the tonal quality or balance of the system. As a matter of fact we listened to the QB9 in many different combinations, some costing in upwards of 100K. It performed in every case. If the price is pushing your budget a little bit, sell your extra high end cables to make yourself feel better!
  3. I'm about to call the dealer. It also occurred to me that there was no Manual in the Box! Power Cord, USB and Manual: I'd think they'd all be in the same bag. Thanks Everyone.
  4. What do you think? Is this intentional or do I scream Bloody Murder? P.s. I'm not much of a screamer.
  5. Most of my Audiophile experience involves older equipment - until today, when I purchased an Ayre Qb-9 for my 2 channel. There's just one problem...it didn't come with an AC cable. Is it really possible that we are so worried about electrical noise that a $2500 DAC doesn't come with a power cord? Please advise, this seems crazy!
